Hello! i am very new to this forum, i have been “lurking” for a week and reading posts before i decided to join! lol! well i just wanted to introduce myself and my bun Pepper to everyone officially!

My name is Lindley, I am from Indiana! I go to Ball State University for Landscape Architecture. I am 20 years old. I just got Pepper from the fair on the 6th of July. He was 8 weeks old, which makes his birthday about May 6th (thats what im making it!). I bought him from a breeder whos little girls do rabbits for 4H there. I was looking into and researching about caring for and getting a bunny for a while, and decided i really wanted a Holland Lop, but couldnt find one anywhere here in Terre Haute in Petstores. only two pet stores sold bunnies, and they were not tame at all and were not kept in the greatest conditions. as much as i felt bad for them, i didnt think my first experience with rabbits should be with possibly mean and sick ones  so i found Pepper at the fair and it was love at first sight! he was a lighter color than his brothers and sisters, they all came out black, and he was a light grayish brown with a black nose! (and he was only ten dollars compared to the 50 at pet stores here!) He is purebred Holland Lop, i was offered a pedigree, but i didnt want to pay the extra cash for it, since im not showing him.

Well my dad was upset at first, it started off that Pepper had to stay outside on the other side of the yard between our two barns, then i got him to let me keep him on the porch, then i started sweet talking him and he met pepper and decided pepper could stay in my room, but he didnt want to find little rabbit poos anywhere! lol so luckily pepper never had to stay outside in the horrible heat with the other animals ( I knew i would be able to get my dad to let him stay in the house though so i was never worried about this )

Pepper is moving with me into my house in about two weeks when i move back to muncie. Pepper is an adorable little boy who will get out of his cage on the floor (I let him out for about 3 hours a day to play with him) and binky all over the place. he his very curious and likes to taste everything  so i have to keep a close watch on him. He will run around and let me pet him, but he will always come up for some affection into my lap when he wants, i dare not try to put him there, he will just hop away and ignore me for a while, so i have to let him come when he wants! lol! He is tolerant of me picking him up, but I still cant seem to get him to let me flip him over so i can check his feet and nails and teeth. I suppose i will eventually be able to, if not here comes a bunny burrito! lol!

Thanks all here are some pics of us!

This is him when i was picking him at the fair!

        Pepper being curious

yes that is a wire floor, but that is the only part that wire is exposed, cause he likes laying on it and cooling his belly with the circulation through, the other side is cardboard and is temporary until we move into the house, then he will get a whole pen to himself and better flooring!

This is me and my boyfriend, he will be taking care of Pepper too! lol they have already met and get along great!

Thanks everyone! Binky Bunny seems amazing and full of great people!

Welcome Peppersmamma! Pepper is so adorable! Enjoy the baby phase, and take lots and lots of pictures so you can look back and remember how tiny he was! I wish I had taken more of my bun when she was a baby. I’m glad to hear you’ll be turning another man into a bunny-lover, lol.

Oh he is so adorable.  I am partial to lops myself!  Make sure to read all the great info above under Bunny Info. Keep us updated on the little guy.  Such a sweetie.

Edited: Also it would be a very good idea to take Pepper to the vet for a check-up – that way you have a baseline for future vet visits or problems that may come up. The vet can show you how to clip nails, clean those lovely little glands (not that I ever do!) and check his teeth.
