As I have said my bunny might be pregnant well it has been over a month andI check to see if she had pulled fur and i couldn’t see but I didn’t think so but I saw today she has and i think she might have had her babies while she was loose…![]()

That is very possible if she was in fact pregnant. Their gestation period is only 28 to 34 days – how long have you had her?
twoo days there was a male out about a month ago and my mom saw the mating (she didn’t do anything) and we thought she was pregnant but we don’t know if she had them or not, or if it was a false alarm. (the owner let her out and when I caught her they let me keep her)
you need to look around and see where she was. under things, behind furniture, everywhere. if there are babies, you have to move them into a cage area.
*edge of my seat* Keep us posted!! Why was it you thought she might have had them already?
keep us posted!
If you let your bun loose, she’ll go to the babies.
BUT if there aren’t any babies it’s a risk to let your rabbit loose…and you are not really sure if she was ever pregnant.
Well is it a risk if it is indoors?
Markusdark
we live in a a place with a bunch of houses close together and she was outside I looked around some and didn’t find any but they could be under houses and stuff. what if I put her harness and leash on and let her loose that way??
K&K
she plucked her fur on her belly and she skinnier than she was the last time I saw her.
Well apparently this rabbit was outdoors for a few days so I think that’s the problem here and the fact that she isn’t sure if she was pregnant.
I think really the best thing is to take the rabbit to a vet to see if they can tell if she is pregnant or has recently given birth.
no like a month and a half
I personally would do the harness and leash thing. Buns can be very tricky in their hiding spots. The only thing I’m worried about is that she may have had them where you can’t get to them.
I am just afraid that they might have died it’s been two days.
i am really confused.
why was she running outside unsupervised and unconfined?
if you think she had the babies two days ago and she has not been with them since then, i am thinking they are surely dead. keep in mind, it is also possible she might have given birth to stillborn babies.
she didn’t belong to me two days ago the owner sawher mating with a male and caught her planning to rehome her but instead let her loose she was loose for like a month and a half, the my mom caught her and the owners let me have her.
Argghh… what a mess!
Short-term, I agree with Markusdark about the harness and checking outside…just make sure the harness fits so she doesn’t escape! And be prepared for what you might find…which could be nothing, but you never know…
But seriously, you need to talk to your mom and get poor Willow to a vet ASAP!
I’ll see what i can do but I can’t pick her up to get her harness on.
If it has been a couple of days, my suggestion would be to get your bun to a vet and not worry about the possibility of babies. If they were born, they cannot live without mom for more than a day – two max. I would worry about Willow at this point and just assume she didn’t have any babies.
Yea but it’s just hard.
I understand. My Maryann was brought into the shelter pregnant and she had her babies but she was too young to produce any milk for them. It was sad because there was nothing me or the staff could do. We tried but baby bunnies are very fragile things. The important thing though is to focus on the bun you have there as they need a good home.
And the important thing to keep in mind is that it isn’t your fault. If you had let Willow outside or other such things, she could have been injured or worse and that would have been bad for everyone concerned. We can only do so much when it comes to caring and rescuing bunnies. It is also one of the reasons I never followed my dream to become a vet as I know I couldn’t deal with euthanizing any animal – even the ones that needed it.
Yea, I know and i’ll get over it, but I feel bad.
i understand. i thought you had her longer than that. sorry… lol, i wasn’t following.
i agree with Markus. i would not worry about any babies. it’s more dangerous to put her out on a harness, esp. since she is used to being loose. she might struggle to get off the leash and escape or injure herself.
i understand that it’s upsetting thinking there might be babies, but it’s probably better off that you don’t know. also, there is no way of knowing they would have survived anyways. babies will sometimes die, even under the watchful eye of the most experienced bunny rescuers, like Markus said, sometimes it happens. just take care of Willow. try and get her into the house ASAP.
as soon as I can pick her up to get her in the house I will.
i’m not sure what you mean by that. you cannot pick her up, b/c she bites, or… runs? can you get a small cardboard box and scoop her into it jsut to carry her inside? of course you have to have an indoor area set-up first.
good Idea.
Thanks Beka I used your box idea nad got her in the house.
