Hi guys…
Sad to report that I lost Dill, my little heart bunny, in the wee
small hours of the 4th of July. Pipp is my bonded mate, but Dill was
my ‘torrid affair.’ He was a very special little mini-rex, the most
awesome bunny on the planet — certainly the most awesome bunny I’ve
ever known. His loss has been devastating.
He had a slight head tilt, went to the vet’s right away, he was
obviously feeling aweful later that night so I took him to the ER and
he died there. A necropsy showed he had cancer — it had gotten into
his liver and the resulting damage caused toxins to invade his brain –
– thus the tilt. He wasn’t even five years old.
I was blessed by having two years with him. He was a rescue — a
former house bunny abandoned for at least a year — maybe two — in a
tiny rusted wire cage, no floor, hay, toys or company — a bolted
metal tray for occasional pellets and a filthy water bottle. He
never got over his cage phobia, I never let him see bars again.
In Dill’s honor, I’m trying to adopt another little mini-rex named
Scooter. Scooter, like Dill, is stressed when caged, and is very
aggressive as a result. He has been deemed special needs, a difficult
placement. I am willing to take Scooter and work with him, giving
him free-run to help alleviate his cage, biting and stress issues.
He doesn’t have a lot of other options.
But… WE NEED TO GET HIM FROM THE L.A. AREA TO VANCOUVER, CANADA (or
at least Seattle, I can pick him up from there).
Can anyone help?
Does anyone know anybody in the airline industry who can fly him here
in the cabin? (He can’t be shipped).
Is anyone driving this way? (Or part of the way?) Or can you make a
small contribution to a gas fund for other drivers?
If anyone wants a cheap Vancouver vacation and is willing to fly (or
drive) with a little bunny, I’ll offer my home as a place to stay —
I’m only blocks from downtown, Stanley Park, the beach — and I’ll
feed you. Return flights can be had for not much more than a
couple hundred dollars.
If you want to bring a friend, even better — you can also bring
another rabbit from the rescue — and free up another space and save
yet another life!
