or, at the least considers me to be the lesser of 2 evils in the house….lol.
My little shy Dutch, Daisy, has progressed over the past year to actually coming up to me for a treat, but still backs away from head pets or any touch. I lay on the floor several nights a week and he’ll come investigate, but that’s as close as he comes.
Last night my son caught him and lifted him out of the condo and sat on the other end of the couch, as soon as he loosened his hold, that bunny zoomed across the couch, up my shirt and lodged himself under my chin like a tick! I have never seen an animal move that fast, it was just almost too fast to see….lol (and if it had been my warrior princess Pringles I would have feared for my jugular vein)
Anyway, Daisy stayed there and watched Hell’s Kitchen with me, the only thing moving were his ears tickling my face. After an hour and half, I tried to put him on the floor with Lola and he zoomed back up my pants leg and tucked back under my neck for another hour. This whole time he didn’t look stressed, no rolling white eyes or panicky breathing or anything, just determined.
I think I’ve been a bit overprotected about not initating contact with him, maybe sitting in that glass case at the petstore all those months just conditioned him that way, but from now on, I’ll make a point of catching him everynow and then for a snuggle!
That was a thrilling evening with the buns!
