hey everyone. I’m so jealous that your buns like toys! i cut up a toilet roll for layla and rolled them to her and she went beserk! gowling and stamping her feet! I also tried to make the octopus toy and i think she really hated it!  she started attacking the newspaper – really agggresively – and was growling, and once she pulled everything down she was happier!! sometimes she just sits (not lies) staring at one thing, usually the table leg, for HOURS!! without moving. i call it bunny meditation – is this normal? i’mnervous im not stimulating her brain enough, but eshe just doesnt like toys! she likes to run – she has a race course in the house-floor, top of cage, couch, bed, side table and back again – whizziing around really fast! once i caught her pushing a coke bottle with her nose – which was totally adorable, so from` then on i left bottles around the house, but NOTHING!! what do i do? is she happy just bouncing around? also, she is really really mood. some weeks she cant get enough cuddles, and other weeks if i look at her she growls, turns around and sticks her bum in my face!!!! aaah!!

          The growling…is she spayed?

Some bunnies like to play differently -I bet layla would like things to play IN rather then WITH. You could try the ‘maze haven’, ‘cat condos’ and tunnels and I bet she’d have a blast!

I am amazed how long my buns can sit and “meditate” – it must be a prey thing!

I am also still trying to figure out how my buns like to “play”. They will play with something for a day or so and then never touch it again!

Mostly Winston also likes to run around, and Kay likes “toss” toys, like a slinky.

But a tunnel – oh, my – neither one of them can resist a tunnel! Heck even if I sit on the floor with my knees up – they have to run through! They will also sit inside a cardboard tunnel all day long. Good times!

okay, there were two threads going so i moved this over here.

here’s my response from the other thread:

it’s important to know how bunnies play.  sometimes they only like to do a certain thing, sometimes they combine parts of everything into their repertoire.  this article from the HRS does a great job at explaining the different types of play  http://www.rabbit.org/journal/3-6/chew-stick.html

i think that if she’s not interested in one thing, try something else.  there are almost endless possibilities of what you can find or buy to keep them interested.  BinkyBunny has great toys that promote healthy chewing like the willow items.  there’s the MazeHaven (which is AWESOME!)  but there are things you can do yourself too.  sometimes a bunny has to see something for awhile before they will explore it.

don’t give up on her.  find what she likes.  this forum has great ideas of what other people have done for toys too.

this is a good point.  i don’t remember if she’s spayed or not.  she might be more annoyed by the attempts to play if her hormones are in the way and that could be showing itself as aggression.
