Hello, my name is Scarlet and I fell off the weight loss wagon. ![]()
However, I have climbed back aboard!
I’ve lost 2 1/2 pounds in the last 3 weeks. I have begun walking during my lunch break at work and recently did a cleanse and have started a fiber supplement so I don’t feel so dang hungry all the time even when I am really not, it’s stress!
What about the rest of you?
I lost 4 in the past 2 weeks! ![]()
I started working out in February and counting calories and I have lost 40 pounds and counting so far!!!!
I try to walk to work every day, it makes such a huge difference!!
That’s great you two!
Okay, sign me up. Guess that means I have to actually get on a scale huh? lol
– Annette
Forty pounds wow!! Share your SECRETS!!!
*does not want to go on the scale* ![]()
Congrats on the weightloss and/or healthy lifestyle! And wow, allenj, you are my inspiration!
This thread is actually perfect timing! I recently joined a local gym with my friend/neighbor. We carpool together and help motivate each other. We both said we really needed someone to go with, so this is perfect. They have great classes, like cardio kickboxing, body sculpt (oye that’s hard!), a pool, racquetball courts (great workout but dangerous – i’m not so coordinated, but I love it)
So hopefully I soon will also be able to say I have lost weight.
I have also fallen off the wagon. Since the breakup, moving, the job, etc I’m not getting anywhere. I stopped eating for a while and lost some, but then started eating again and eating not very well and I’ve been pretty stable around 165. Yuck.
I thought I would go out more and exercise now that I have the dog but I haven’t really…
Oh well. Someday. I just have 35 pounds to lose…which isn’t horrible…
okay i’ve been avoiding this thread. not only have i fell off the wagon but the wagon is no longer insight ![]()
wow there are some inspirational weight losses here tho… congrats to you who have had success!
*runs to catch upto wagon*
my new job will be a drastic switch in routine… in other words a perfect time to get back at the weight loss thing! and since i have 2 weddings coming up in august it’s none too soon! never mind my current weight or the numbers i want to loose… success for me right now would be to fit back into some of my office clothes. i hate the thought of spending money on new clothes that i desperately need when i’m so over-weight. it’s like accepting that i’ll stay at this weight. *sigh* but it’s better than not having anything nice to wear so off i go to find a couple of suitable outfits.
Well I got on the scale this morning and it’s reading 4 pounds less than the last time I was on it, so I guess that walking the dog and packing/unpacking has had some good effect!
– Annette
I congratulate those of you who are having success! Kudos to you!
Me? I don’t need to get on the scale, I can tell I’m carrying the weight loss wagon in my caboose! >_<
I am stuck at 135, on a 5’4″ frame that is too much. (And the only thing I think I’ve lost lately is an inch in height. My back is constantly killing me.) I am very small boned and can’t handle being over about 110. It’s uncomfortable. And it seems so short a distance to go, but my body isn’t cooperating.
I thought a major part of my problem is that I have medications that tend to keep one a little portly, but I’ve dropped all but one of them. Still no change in two months.
I have tried to move more and eat less and usually in summer I can scale down a bit, but not this year.
It’s very frustrating. Although I take some comfort in knowing that if I ever go for reconstruction from my mastectomy, I have plenty of spare tubing to shift north if I so choose…lolz! xD
Scarlet – what kind of cleanse did you do? I’ve always been interested in trying something like that to jump-start the weight loss…
Hi Cadbury!
I went to my local health food store and I bought a package one, I used the “Garden of Life” Perfect Cleanse. Basically it is a three step process and this one is nice because you do not have any interruptions during the day time and take all three throughout your evening at home. Be careful with them, especially the herbal blend ones as most contain goldenseal and that is something a lot of people are allergic to. I’ve also used the Natures Way Daily Cleanse as well. Be careful with the fiber, a sudden increase can cause gas & bloating. Anyone in your health food store can help you decide which one may be best for you. I find that they really work for me and I do it once or twice a year. Most are based off of the concept of purifying and cleansing the blood, then detoxifying the liver and kidneys and then elminating those wastes and scrubbing your colon clean with fiber through elimination. I’ve then followed up with a probiotic that I am currently taking. If you have any medical conditions or medications that you are taking, be sure to check with your Dr. for any adverse effects or drug interactions. There are also juice fasts too but I’m not into that radical of a way to cleanse.
I would be more than happy to answer any more questions you might have. ![]()
Yay for all the weight drops! Stay motivated, everyone, that is key!!!!
When I started working out, I thought I could just eat the way I always had (lots of food, all the time), but after a month or so I decided that watching what I eat would be beneficial. I use the website http://www.dailyplate.com to track my calories. You can set up how much weight you want to lose per week and it tells you how many calories you can eat per day based on your weight/height. Its wonderful and it really helps me to stay focused and not cheat!!!! So its not really dieting, its just cutting back portions and eating healthier! Another good website out there is http://www.sparkpeople.com. I don’t really have someone to work out w/, so this way I feel like I’m not going it alone.
And like I mentioned, I walk to work. WALK EVERYWHERE YOU CAN. Its such a great workout and you don’t even realize that you are working out!!!
I too have a wedding in August, I’m the maid of honor and my dress is at least 4 sizes too big ![]()
Keep up the great work everyone!
Thank you for those links, I am going to check them out now! ![]()
Just thought I’d poke my nose in here … some skinny tips from a skinny chick …
Take the stairs instead of the lift/elevator
Eat 5-6 small meals a day
Drink plenty of water
Cut down on alcohol
Cut out fatty foods including pastries
Get your five veggies and two fruits a day - not too many carbs (potato (sweet potato is best), rice, pasta)
Moderate exercise daily . don’t have to kill yourself!
I know, Ladies you probably know all this … you can bash me now! LOL.
Oh, no, no, no Dawn – Skinny Chicks are not allowed!
And what?! Cut down on the Alcohol?
![]()
Those are great tips, thank you. I also like the idea of more frequent smaller meals, as the larger ones end up making me feel tired, and I get famished inbetween. It is hard to find the time to eat more often, but I think, for me, that will keep me from getting to the point of being “too hungry” and just grabbing at the most convenient thing.
For me what has really begun to make a huge difference and is helping me the most iis to have a work-out partner. (My friend/neighbor) We joined a gym, and so far we haven’t let each other down. We like the same activities as far as working out and that makes a big difference. I know that if it wasn’t for her, I would have bailed out on working out so many times already. It always seems to work out that if one isn’t feeling it, the other is, and we can get each other motivated.
Oohhh BinkyBunny … sorry to be a party pooper LOL. Skinny chicks not allowed hehe.
I like your attitude to your gym routine .. it is great to have a gym buddy to egg each other on and really gets the motivation going. How are you handing the exercise with your knee reconstructions (think I remember you mentioning about your ops some time ago!). Hope I got that right …
Mmm the reduction alcohol consumption …. yes I know that one …. I have recently had a scare through my recent op having my gallbladder removed … and with all that bashing of alcohol I have some minor liver damage … ooohhh I know not good … so I am very wary of how much I am consuming now …
GO GIRLS … AND KEEP UP THE CONTINUED GOOD WORK!!!
PS I did send you an email about Rucy … I hope you received it and all is well with your buns.
so after falling off the wagon on holiday i too am back on, i am trying to cut down on all my carbs as i eat bread and more bread all day long lol i have 2 slices for the morning 3 for sandwiches at lunch and all the rest which i pretend i dont have between meals
so now im trying to have more fruit for breakfast etc. so i will keep you posted, the first week is always a big loss week so hopefully i will loose the 4lbs i put on while i was away!
Dawn – The first knee surgery where the surgeon just tried to fuse the ligaments together didn’t work. I tore it slightly when I went mountain biking barely doing anything, and then I completely ripped it apart skiing. The second operation gave me a whole new ACL ligament (from a cadaver -thank you to the person who made my knee brand new again!) Well it’s been a while since then and it’s all healed up and ready to work hard.
I have zero knee pain.
But I am also going at it in a smart way this time – I have to. The second time, I was more cautious, and I didn’t jump right back into the the crazy active stuff I used to do, and well I piled on the pounds quickly. So there was no way I could get back to all the sporty stuff I used to do without killing myself. So now I’m just working hard to work all this stuff off, and then once I get fit enough, I’ll get back into sport stuff. I did feel good though at the body-scuplt class. Even in my “pudge” state, the teacher said I was strong “underneath” there.
and she said I must have been in some athletic or some type of sports activity before. That little itty bitty compliment made me feel so good. Amazing how a little thing like that can keep me motivated – motivated enough to find out what the heck REALLY IS still underneath there.
Hopefully, if I keep at it, in six months I’ll know!
Well I hope the wagon can make a stop in Calgary to pick me up… I’ve always had the best intentions to keeping fit. Growing up I always felt a little “pudgy” or “curvy” as my mom liked to call it lol but my two best friends and little sister were all the type of girls that struggled to fit into the size 00. Now looking back I know that I was really quite a normal size! What I wouldn’t give to get back to that! I was much more active doing dance and other sport activities. But then this December I suffered from a knee injury also, I tore my MCL and damaged some of the cartilage in my knee as well. And while almost 4 months on crutches toned my arms… the rest of me.. well lol it caught up fast. I tell myself all the time that I’m going to start going to the gym, I think I need a gym partner too I really hate going because I’m just not sure what I’m doing other than running on the treadmill. Now I face a problem because my doctor wants me to take it easy on the running exercises because of my knee. I am hoping to start going to a pilates class or something similar.. maybe I can convince my friend (unfortunately her sized double zero days didn’t last and she struggles more than me now) to be my gym buddie! Ah well here’s to getting fit again! Good Luck to all of us! hehehe maybe group motivation here will help too!
Did anyone know there is over 1400 calories in a meal at KFC?
I thought there would be a high amount like 600-700 hundred maybe 8 at a push but 1400? god i nearly had heart failure just hearing about it!
I know isn’t it terrible?! Also at McDonalds its better for you to eat their icecream then it is to eat the muffins! My boyfriend thought it was being all smart eating “healthy” breakfasts there… until he looked at the nutrition chart. All those places are sooo bad… and yet that is my biggest weakness… mmm popcorn chicken hehehe ![]()
hahah and by “it was being” I meant “HE was being” lol shhh don’t tell he already thinks I objectify him enough
*sits by side of road, head in hands, watching the wagon on the horizon*
I bought a great little book put out by Weight Watchers that lists most of the national food chains with their calories, nutrition, etc. It’s to help figure out what you’ll be eating when you go there. I think you can stop by a WW meeting place when it’s open and just buy one without joining. I also recommend their snack bars for substitutes for regular chocolate bars and meal bars. Expensive, but at least they’ve swapped out the bad ingredients.
i find that if i am dieting i have to cut certain things completely and thats why atkins always worked well for me because it was just like ‘NO you cant have that bread so forget it.’ whereas on WW its like ‘yes you can have a little bit’ then before you know it you’ve eaten have a loaf and a packet of biscuits lol
For me, if something is forbidden, then I crave it the most, so I could never do an Atkins type diet. I like just counting calories, because then I can eat whatever I want, just not tons of it. And if there’s something I really crave, but I’m over on calories, I can always have it tomorrow!
I actually gained weight on Atkins.
I’ve lost 3 more pounds just walking during my lunch break at work.
Woohoo skinny chick-ville here I come!!! LOL
I’ve been playing softball this summer (carefully with the knee of course) and I have noticed that the added exercise is helping even though playing doesn’t feel like that much work. Coming back from Winnipeg I had put on another 4 pounds or so (Italian grandparents serve lasagna as a side dish lol) but I’ve definately worked that back off in the 3 weeks I’ve been home so YAY! Also this fall/end of summer I am in need of a new job, I have been looking around and there is a dog walking company in my area that is hiring, the hours are good, the pay is surprisingly good and BONUS I’ll be walking whenever I’m working! So hopefully I am getting back on the right track… now if I could only resist the temptation of those cheeseburgers…
Dawn – I am going to try your suggestion and stocked up on fresh fruits and veggies, chopped and rinsed them up and are ready to go in re-useable containers that I can just pack and take with me. Thanks!
Hey Rosebud … good on ya Girl! Hope it helps ![]()
I am at the opposite end of the scale … trying to put some darn weight on … yes I know, not funny … being underweight is awful too … and just as hard to get it on as it is off!
We are never happy! ![]()
Dawn, you should go and spend one week with my bfs Grandmother (she’s Italian) she wont even care that she doesn’t know you… she’d still feed you 5 course meals 6 times a day! (I’m not over exaggerating here..) You’d put on weight in no time, lol I always do.
same when i go away to my cousins lol they are only packing away from one meal and they are gettin stuff ready for the next.. jeez i was there for 2 weeks and gained 6lbs
omg!
Dawn, I’ve barely done it for a week and I am feeling better and I lost a 1/2 pound! THANK YOU! I needed a nudge to do it again. I had lost a lot of weight by eating a small breakfast of yogurt and fruit and then veggies throughout the day and having a sensible dinner but stopped. It is so hard sometimes when you know how to eat, it is just DOING it that is hard for me.
Well after a week of having my husband’s mom here, I was sad to see that I am now another 5 lbs heavier than I was at the start of thread. *groan*
I’m going back to veggies, it’s the only thing I can eat without becoming a balloon! >.<
Oh thanks Samantha … let GrandMum know I’ll be over in a jiff ![]()
Rosebud – Glad you are feeling good within yourself … keep it up! The smaller meals eaten regularly don’t bloat you up so much … I am so used to grazing now … I cannot tolerate a huge lunch or dinner. I’ve done this for years. However, I need to push my weights again to bulk up a bit … so I am hoping this thread can push me along a bit as well. Its not always what we put in our mouths but how much.
