Does anyone here ever give a frozen blueberry or strawberry every once in awhile for a nice, frosty bunny treat during the hot months? I was wondering, since I see that some of you suggest putting ice cubes in their water or feeding them chilled greens. Wouldn’t the cold of ice be an upset to their delicate tummies? Or do you think they would fancy it, perhaps the berry mushed up in a bowl so they don’t have to chase it all over creation to eat it…kind of like a sorbet, only much smaller and less sugary?

        What do you all think?

I keep a bag of mixed frozen berries in the freezer and give each bun one every now and then. It’s fun to watch them nibble at it while it’s still frozen, takes a while to finish it off.

I saw the topic and thought yum, I would LOVE that for myself! I think you have a wonderful idea Mimz! Try it and see if they take to it or not and let us know!

I tried a blueberry on each bun the other day. Mimzy is used to dried blueberries once in awhile if he’s been good during a grooming, so you could just see the wheels turning as he tasted/sniffed the frozen one…”Hm…smells kinda familiar, but not…what the heck are you expecting me to eat now, Mom??”

I kept thinking of the scene from A Christmas Story where the kid gets his tongue stuck to the pole. I got a mental picture of poor Mim running around with a blueberry stuck to his tongue, it kind of gave me a chuckle. “Come on, I TRIPLE DOG DARE YA!” xD

Anyway, they both seemed to like it, albeit they were not quite sure what I was giving them was edible I think. ^_^

Hee hee. They were probably thinking most things that are this hard are things they are not supposed to be chewing on.

Oh gravehearted, that’s a stupendous idea! I’ll give that a shot! Maybe I can finally get Mimzy to take his pineapple juice that way to, hm? (to help break down the hair)
I mushed up a few again for them last night. They tucked right into them, I think until it got a little too cold for their teeth. lolz. Bunny brain freeze! >_<

I freeze grapes when it’s hot and they love them. Not to bad for me either.

Oh I just love frozen berries. Make great smoothies with vanilla soy milk and banana or pineapple.  Yes my buns get spoilt with an occassional frozen one. I was amazed at Cotton. He waits a little bit b4 eating his but in no time it is all gone. Still frozen too. Thats a great idea for the summer too. Never thought of that one.

Oh bunnytowne, you gave me another good idea! I often complain that my bananas are green when I get them at the store, but in the 30 minutes drive home, they already look brown and spotted. I think I’ll start freezing them in little chunks, that way the buns can have another cool treat and so can I!
lolz…don’t know why I hadn’t thought of this before! How silly am i?
