  I was just on kijiji.ca for my city and am really beginning to HATE this site for the way people treat animals like objects. There are several ads where people claim to love their rabbits but want to “get rid” of them because they don’t have time. No time for 1 rabbit? One looks just like my Bindi…
  
  What really upset me today is the ad complete with extremely cute pics of baby bunnies going for $15.00 each. I want to cry because they could end up in anyone’s hands, even reptile food. Does anyone ever write to these types of ads and warn them about this? I always want to but fear they will say something like “who cares?”

  You should be able to go in and delete your own posts for the multiple posts.
  
  I agree with you about people wanting to “get rid” of their rabbits. I help answer those emails with the rescue group I volunteer at – sometimes I have been able to get the person to reconsider getting rid of their rabbits with some information and education. Sometimes not.
  
  I refuse to look at Craigslist and those types of ads too just because of that reason too.

  I totally agree with you, LPT!! Animals are NOT objects, unfortenately a lot of ppl see them that way. [so why did they end up with a “PET” in the first place…] I really really just hate ppl like that, and for that reason, those kind of ads. you’re right, they could end up anywhere, and most likely will [even as reptile food]. If I see posts like this, I usually write to those people [in a polite, educational way] at least trying to explain. Some ppl actually are not even aware of the risks on posting on such sites; sometimes you really can change ppl minds, sometimes just not…

  I “police’ the kijiji ads in my city.
  
  Anyone offering a pet ‘free to good home’ gets my rant about that; ie. If someone won’t pay anything for a pet, it’s likely they can’t afford vet care yada yada plus research facilities are KNOWN to get animals for research from ‘free to good home’ ads
  
  I refer people to rescue groups when they are looking to obtain or ‘get rid of’ a pet. I also refer people who have problem animals to the behaviorists at our humane society (they’ll help for free).
  
  I also report ad’s for deletion from anyone who says “six weeks old and ready to go” because it’s illegal in my province to seperate a baby from a mother inside of eight weeks.
  
  It makes me feel *a little* bit better…

  I like how you say you “police” the sites, K&K. Maybe I will send some e-mails to those ads. Could I maybe e-mail you a sample b4 I send it and you can tell me what you think?

  I am looking for a girlfriend for Charlie and I was looking through the ads to see what bunnies are being abandoned this wee due to neglect, laziness and inpulse buys. I get so mad at these people, because rabbits are such rewarding pets and they’re literally throwing them out. Grrr, I couldn’t send a polite email even if I tried, it would sound angry any way I put it!
