What are the best greens to feed buns? Please list of stuff that you use. I got a 3 month old male French Lop, Dallas, on June 16th for my birthday (turned 16) and I have looked up on the internet what greens to feed him but it seems like every site is saying something else, one says use *insert random veg. here* and the other says don’t! I figured it’d be best to ask people who have had rabbits, what types of food they feed, besides the obvious hay and pellets. Also, is there certain stuff I shouldn’t feed him, because he is still young?
Anybody who could help will be loved for life! I’m going out this next week with my mom and wanted to get a list of all the greens to buy for him while we are there!

Welcome!  Please see Diet under Bunny Info above for a complete list of foods to feed your bunny.  There is a lot of info under that link. Good luck!

welcome here! on the page that knowltons posted, you’ll see that there are different diets for babies (under 7 months). there is also a link to a comprehensive list of veggies. make sure you introduce one at a time so you can see if it causes an upset tummy. eventually you’ll want the bunny to be eating 3 or more different veggies a day… at least 2 cups per day.

what kind of pellets and hay are you feeding currently?

oh. and we love bunny pics. so please share if you have some. is a french lop a very large lop?

yes, binky bunny’s greens list is a great one.  you’ll probably find that there are greens that are more often available & at better prices as well as findinf out what your bun likes to eat.  i started out with spinach because i like to eat a lot of it myself and eventually tryed out kale and parsley.  but my main greens are romain and red & green leaf lettuce because they’re frequently on sale.  i’d recommend to start out feeding just a small bit (like 2 or 3 baby spinch leaves or half of a big kale leaf) of any new green and one at a time like beks mentions.  some rabbits just can’t tolerate some greens even though its on the list.  good luck!
