hope all you canucks had a wonderful canada day yesterday!

i went into the humane society for my regular tuesday morning gig – my first tuesday morning shift – and had a blast with the kitties.  by the time i was done cleaning all the kennels & feeding them the bun room was *packed* full of kiddies & volunteers so i didn’t get a chance to canoodle with any of them    i’mn hoping this will not be the norm tho… it was just busy because it was a holiday. 

get this… the second to last pod we were cleaning (there was another volunteer helping me) has the most fur babies in it.  we were cleaning the last kennel in the group & the cat was out & about in the pod when suddenly the cleaning cart tipped over.  the garbage had gotten too heavy with litter.  everything went flying.  good thing the litter & cat food containers were all nearly empty by this point.  of course this pod is right up at the front & there were tonnes of people walking by the windows.  they couldn’t see the mess on the floor but they could see us tip-toeing around. 

then, while the loose cat was dining on the spilt cat food one of the wee kitties whose kennel we just cleaned had a big messy poop which clung to it’s bum & was transferred to *everything* in it’s kennel.  as i hurried to get the cat that was out back in it’s kennel so i could tend to the smelly mess & the other volunteer kept at cleaning up the mess on the floor, another kitty decided to jailbreak & was scaling down the outside of the door to it’s kennel.

by this point we were just laughing.  i think i got the ewwwy pooey mess cleaned before too many of the general public got to see it.  i hope that the poor kitty is okay!
