I know it’s been awhile since I’ve actually posted, but I’ve been still lurking…and now I’m having a bunny problem.

Warren is completely uninterested in food, water, even papaya at the moment. He was eating and drinking this morning before work, but now he just seems a little listless.  I took him out of the pen, and he didn’t fight with me (as per normal) and placed him on my bed – he hopped around a little, and then lay down and peed. And lay in his pee for a few moments until I realized what he did.  He usually hops away from his pee.

I am thinking he is just overheated, as we don’t have A/C and today was pretty toasty, and gave him fresh cold water, and a big pile of leafy greens to munch on, but so far, he’s just hanging out by the side of his pen. I’m going to keep an eye on himforthe next 12-24 hours, and if no change in behavior, straight to the vet he goes.

Anyone else have problems like these?

I definitely would call the vet ASAP. When it was 103 here recently Edson sprawled out a lot but he continued to eat and drink.  Do check out the tips on the Home Page about what to do in the heat.

Edited: I would consider buying a small portable air conditioner especially being on the east coast.  I actually looked into here and you can find really good ones for $100-150. We were miserable for those few days and I worried so much about Edson.

i’ve heard people mention putting a cool, damp paper towel on their ears to bring their temp down… i suppose you could try that, but i think you should call the vet in the morning (at the very latest).

He’s back to his normal mischievous self now!

When he started acting abnormal, I gave him fresh greens, water, pellets and hay, then cleaned his cage and box, so I could monitor his intake and output. Then I got up every three hours to check on him at night. By 5:00AM, he was drinking a little, and at 6:20AM, when I got up for work, he was cronching away at some romaine.

Maybe he was just a little overheated or had a tummyache.  I wish he could tell me what hurts!

It does sound like he was overheated. Do you leave a fan on for him?
