oh ohhh how old is your bun if he is tween 4 mos to 1 yr is adolescents. yikes huh? well lets see if you have x pen you could corral him away from the chewable apartment  places with his toys etc. some buns are just bigger on chewing everything than others too. once bun matures it will die down usually. neutering won’t change this chewing stuff much tho. well you can try spraying purfume or phoooey on the stuff you dont’ want chewed   wire proof your wires tooo. yeah cotton went thru that  but he now only chews his toys and newspaper. try putting cardboard box for him and newspaper and phoen book for him to chew instead and with spraying the unchewables and giving bun these things it may help  also there is a  ….. is your bunny eating up your house….. on bb homepage try checkign in there too.

oh Bunnicula, I know what you mean. Mine seem intent on eating the entire house, too.

I just spent the day running all my computer, tv and dsl wires through pvc pipe from the wall to the top of my desk because I’ve had to replace them all at least twice

. I’m re-sheetrocking this room and during a month long delay, all 5 rabbits took turns stripping the sheetrock and even biting really big pieces out of it. I’m plastering and painting tomorrow and plan on lining the walls with at least one grid high NIC cubes…lol. Good thing they have different colors.

BT is right, there are lots of great pages here on how to protect or at least salvage some of your house, rabbits are such different personalities you may have to try different techniques out to find what works.

Yeah I’ve read a lot that says that bunnies just eat and chew on things… Layla’s been pretty good so far but she did eat my phone cord the other day. That’s my fault… I wasn’t paying attention and snap. In my opinion, you have to bunny proof and if you haven’t done that, you have to watch them very closely… She gets into the darnest things if I don’t keep an eye on her at all times! Even things I didn’t know she would be able to get into, she seems to find a way in to. It’s always a race to see who can find the no no spots first… me or her. She’s winning. Ha.

it might be a stage… but some bunnies are chewers their entire lives. it’s one of the ways that they play. the most important thing you need to do is bunny-proof. this involves manipulating the environment so FIRST of all, the bunny is safe, and secondly, your stuff is safe. wires have to be covered or blocked off (or both!) for the determined bunny. biting into a live wire can kill a bunny. anything you don’t want chewed must be picked up or moved out of the bunny area. if it’s in their reach, it’s fair game. the bunny info section at the top of the page has a section with tips on bunny-proofing…

along with bunny-proofing, the bunny has to be given alternatives that are safe, so like they said above… toys, phone books, and boxes all work great. if the bun starts to chew on something that is off-limits, distract them with a toy.

when rabbits reach puberty, the destructive behavior sometimes kicks up a notch or two. oftentimes, altering can reduce the unwanted behaviors. it’s not always 100% b/c some buns will always love to chew, but it can definitely help, and it is good for the rabbit’s health as well.

Jordanrayne12 Hey my names is jordan , I new on here but I kinda need help . I have a rabbit I got from someone who was getting rid of him his name is fynn . I have had him since April. Hes so sweet to me and loves to play but there’s one problem… he eats EVERYTHING in my room carpet , my border around my floor , doors , windowsill , jumps on my dresser and eats stuff up there I have put guarding things around the base of my floor so he can not eat my border anymore , I should be getting rid of my carpet soon but what do i do about him jumping on my dresser and eating things. He loves to pee on my bed to he has a littler box and he uses it but he also uses my bed to pee on . I need help plz
