I am not looking for either but I came across someone who told me that Lionhead and Angora hair is the same. Is this true? I know almost zilch about this kind of thing and don’t like just staring at people when I don’t know the answer lol

I’m pretty sure that’s correct; It’s almost a wool that they produce…A lionhead sheds out most of the wool and then retains it around their face. I think bunnytowne would know this for sure as she has both lionheads and angoras!!

My understanding is that lionheads are a cross between a short haired dwarf breed and an angora.  There are many different types, some have just a man around the head of the long fur, others get a skirt of long hair around the middle.  Some even have long hair on their bodies like angoras.

Many long haired rabbits have different furs too – some rough, some silky, I had a friend who had 2 Jersey Wooleys and their fur was completely different from each other – one silky and one more coarse. I’m sure the reason for this is the result of many different things, just don’t know for sure.

well it seems they are the same just diff lengths and areas. angoras you can spin their wool and make sweaters and such they have a lot more wool than a lionhead. and cottonsand ruby’s manes are wooly type hair I believe the lionhead was a cross between a dwarf and a jersey wooley. from what I researched but it could have been an angora breed too. well the jersey wooley is an angora type anyway there are 4 diff types of angoras and only 2 types of lionhead the single mane and the double mane. I am waiting for Nora Angora to regrow her hair the angoras by the way have guard hairs over their long coats some have more than others depending on what type of angora you have. satin angoras I think don’t have guard hairs tho and no facial long hair either.but yes the  lionhead wool and angora look the same…When young is real cottony and upon their sheds gets softer once the baby hair goes yes cotton is very very soft and so is Nora when I trimmed her long hair  ruby am still waiting for her shed. she looks like an angora too right now.but no guard hairs ohh lionheads dont’ have guard hairs either.anyway… people who have rabbits and petted cotton said he is really really soft not like their buns.. they dont’ have lionheads
