Well, I made it  (flight from Kauai to WA state) and so did my husband and Lucy! Nobody even questioned me about Lucy’s health certificate…or batted an eye that I was bringing on an animal that is not usually allowed on their airlines. It was kinda weird. Course, my mom was there helping us move and she got away with bringing a water bottle, a tangerine, and a bottle of sunscreen on. Guess she had other things on her mind.

We got in yesterday  morning and Lucy kept me up the whole flight (kept her on my lap). Whenever I started to doze, she would thump. She peed twice in her carrier and I could tell when she was going to because she would start getting a bit frantic, like looking for her box. I put a towel with old pee in her carrier so she would be encouraged to just let it out. I also used the wet lettuce idea to keep her hydrated, and that seemed to work quite well, as her digestion is still normal! So she made it beautifully, and I thought we were good to go, got her home set up, put a blanket over her to encourage rest, came back in an hour, and she was MAD. She has never growled, boxed or bit me, but yesterday, she did all three. It made me so sad!!! So I left her alone to settle more and today, she has started warming up to me again, thank goodness. I don’t think I could stand much more of her cold shoulder! I think she was probably ticked off at how cold it is here compared to her year on Kauai, her ears have never been so cold, but her cage is now insulated by towels and her ears are happy.

        Yay for it being over!!!

Thanks everyone for suggestions and good lucks!

              YAY!

Yeah, I’d be pretty upset if someone moved me from Hawaii to, well, just about anywhere! Don’t worry, she’ll settle in and be fine!

              Glad it all went well!

i’m so glad it went well! she’ll come around. she just endured an extremely stressful (but necessary) trip. that’s funny no one even questioned her… maybe it’s one of those things that ON PAPER are LAW, but in real life… eh… whatever. at least you were prepared tho for the worse!

Oh that’s so great!  I wonder how the air pressure was on her ears???  We know to swallow or chew gum!  Did anyone on the plane ask you about what you had in the box?  Did anyone hear the thumps? Maybe she got mad because she likes to take airplane rides! I’m sure she’ll settle down.  Just give her extra attention!

Let’s see,. She knew when I was starting to doze because I had my hand in her carrier the whole time and I guess I don’t automatically pet yet in my sleep! And I don’t think anyone heard the thumps too bad, the guy next to me had on earphones the whole time. I sure felt them on my legs though, woke me right up! Everyone really respected lucy’s space and didn’t ask to pet her or anything. There were some people who smiled at me indulgently when they saw I had a pet rabbit (you can see through the carrier mesh) and some people did ask to confirm their deductions.

Lucy is definitely happier now after three days on the ground, she chatters her teeth when you rub her, but she still doesn’t hum to me. But more important, no more growling, etc. That was awful!!!! I took her on the deck (we are at my inlaws right now with relatively new carpet) and she happily puttered about, marking with her chin, washing herself, she seemed well-adjusted! Thank goodness she is a pretty easy going bunny!
