I’m sitting here with my cup of coffee, birds singing outside, my rats and the bunnies eating breakfast… and I just remembered how as a child, my favorites were Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry. I remember at some point, I must have been very little, my answer to everything would be “Mickey Mousie”. I was called “Maeuschen” (little mouse) by the neighbors and once I could read, I got my Bugs Bunny comics as a special treat. They were very expensive and had just come out on the market. I bet my mom still has them somewhere! They were on glossy paper and almost like a magazine. Tom and Jerry was extremely violent. I would still watch it and pound on the TV when the cat harassed the mouse. I didn’t understand that TV was not reality (to some extend, I still don’t ). I was allowed one hour of TV per day, the rest of the day, I would spend outside with my bicycle or inside playing with toys and my sister. Computers were unheard of back then. I would cherish my Bugs Bunny comics so much, I had a special protection sheet I would put them in. I think they cost 1.80 Deutsche Mark, which was a ton of money (about $1)! As a sidenote, I grew up in Germany.

Which animals am I owned by now?

        Rats and rabbits.

        Coincidence?

Do you have anything that has followed you from your childhood or that is just a cherished memory from your childhood?

I always loved Bugs Bunny – but I never saw the comics – how cool!

One of my friends was telling me how her favorite, favorite, favorite thing to do in Kindergarten was to Cut & Paste – this completely cracked me up. She could not understand why I was laughing. “Karen,” I said, “You are a graphic designer. You are still cutting & pasting!”

Funny how things do follow us!

OMG !  I just loved Bugs Bunny !  I would love to get all the cartoons on a DVD.  What memories they would drum up *sigh*

There was another cartoon that they would play when the Bugs Bunny show was on, but it had Droopy the dog in it, I think.  He kept doing things to this bulldog that was making sure there was no noise to disturb a bear that was in hibernation.  The bear told this bulldog in a southern drawl, “Ah hate NOISE !”, Droopy heard this and did everything he could to make noise so the bear would come out and smack the bulldog with his big club, LOL !  At one point the bulldog realized what Droopy was trying to do (Droopy would throw dishes to the floor, drop heavy stuff on his feet to make him yelp/scream) and the bulldog would run outside, up a hill away from the bear’s house/den and do his complaining and screaming up there so the bear wouldn’t hear, LMAO !

One time Droopy threw a bunch of dishes, thinking they would crash to the floor and make a bunch of noise, but the bulldog kept catching everything……..in his hands, feet, mouth…….until he was sitting on his butt cheeks holding all these dishes.  Then Droopy came over to him and sprinkled pepper on his nose to try and make him sneeze.  The bulldog ended up running out the door & up the hill on his butt cheeks so he could sneeze and consequently dropped all the dishes and broke them.  Everytime I think of that cartoon and how he used those “cheeks” of his to run up the hill,  I can’t help but laugh.  My mom, dad and sister even got a charge outta that cartoon !  I wish I knew what the name of it was so I could look it up on the net and see about purchasing it.  I’m not even sure who did it…….I don’t think it was a Looney Tunes cartoon……maybe Hanna Barberra (sp?), I’m not sure.

It would be so cool if someone here remembers that same cartoon !  I feel like my family & I are the only ones who ever saw it because every time I mention it to someone, no one remembers it :o(  I know I wasn’t dreaming it, LOL !

To have all the Bugs Bunny cartoons on a DVD would be the greatest thing to happen to me since realizing bunnies were such a delight :oD

Most things I loved as a child I haven’t outgrown and most of them will be with me forever: animals, horseback riding, any type of cartoons, stuffed animals, reading and crafts. I guess I’m just a big child

I also used to love the Looney Tunes cartoon. I remember watching it on Saturday mornings. Actually my bf and I were just discussing the other day how terribly violent that show was and how it would never be aired today. Remember the RoadRunner and Coyote? And all the stuff Daffy and Bugs pulled? Acme explosives and hunting rifles. Not to mention Transvesdite Bugs Bunny…lol. My absolute fave was Pepi Le Pew (spelling? the skunk anyways, he was so romantic…)

my bro would be sitting on the floor watching tv minding his own business and I just couldn’t resist I would sneak up and whack. as hard as I could he must have had a dozen knots on his head   so he got  to watching a scary movie and would sneak up on me and scare me. he was good at that.

i think i started getting animals (years ago before i knew any better!) to spite my mom, she never let me have any pets so i got as many as i could and i intend to get more when i can afford to give them a comfortable life, i think her not letting me have them made me want them more.

That’s really funny, because I always loved Bugs Bunny cartoons as a kid.  My second favorite was Foghorn Leghorn, is my next animal destined to be a chicken?

                          and Barney Bear

Tami – I remember that cartoon! In fact, I think I saw it not too long ago on the late night Cartoon Network!

I always used to hate it when characters got hit on the head or stung by a bee or something and they got those giant knots on their heads. That always (still does ) gross me out.

And I remember Sam Sheep dog, too, in fact…..notice any resemblance?

i loved looney tunes too.  it’s funny how cavalier & clever bugs bunny was at escape & how its pretty close to a rabbits actual personality.  i hope the theory of this thread is true… i also looooved grease & i hope that means soon i’ll be getting a john travolta

OMG !  Hey osprey, my memory of that cartoon wasn’t that great, obviously, because I did some digging and found a cartoon called “Rock-A-Bye Bear”.  Here’s a video of it, but you have to register before you can view it:

                                    http://www.bcdb.com/cartoon/3023-Rock-A-Bye_Bear.html

It has nothing to do with Barney Bear or Droopy, LMAO !  I think the reason my memory is so sketchy w/this cartoon is because I didn’t see it but a few times and far between at that, but I thought it was so hilarious I always remembered what it was about, just not the characters.

Well, I’m still waiting for my confirmation email to be able to watch that cartoon and am getting very impatient now, LOL !

Sorry to have made you go through the hassle of searching for Droopy & Barney Bear, osprey, when it wasn’t even the right characters *blush*, but I thank you so much for your thoughtfulness :o))
