Help!  My bunny has gone from my sweet little bunny boy to a raging lunatic in just a few days time!  I gave him the yellow book..because I thought he’d enjoy it…and he did.  However, ever since he got the yellow book and got a taste of shredding that’s all he wants to do.  Chew, dig and shred.  And he’s doing this to the carpet and everything too.  Especially the one part of the carpet that is under where he had the yellow book.  He’s gone crazy over it! I finally took a sheet today and put that underneath his pen, all of it, so that it would protect the carpet.  Well..it’s barely even doing that because he’s just chewing on the sheet and in turn getting the carpet fibers as well because I can hear them ripping as he does it.  I have now put a piece of cardboard underneath the part that he’s constantly chewing at..but it’s been like 10 minutes and he’s already got the sheet pulled through and he’s got bare cardboard..I give him maybe 30 minutes and he’ll have that moved and be back to the carpets.  When I was trying to “shoo” him from the area he was growling at me! And boxing the cardboard that I was trying to put down!! I’ve never heard him growl at me or be aggressive at all!  I don’t know what’s gotten into him..he was never like this before the yellow book.

Any ideas on how I can get him to calm down??? I don’t know why it’s only that ONE area of the pen.  He’s even grabbing the cubes and shaking them…but only over there.  And it’s not the side closest to where I sit so I don’t think it’s for attention.  I’m just at a loss.

He is not neutered..is it maybe male hormones?  I will be calling on Monday to schedule his appt to get neutered probably next Thursday/Friday when I have off.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me!!!  Maybe he’s just being a typical teenager???

it’s puberty. sometimes their desire to be destructive literally comes on like that overnight. i’d make that appt ASAP. right now, give him everything and anything you can that’s safe to chew to distract him.

            >>> You should have NEVER given him the Yellow Book!! <<<

            ***just kidding***

I can only agree with Beka!!

            Puberty, and testosterone

Do you have a RABBIT SAVVY vet??? to do his neuter???

His hormones will calm down a few weeks after his neuter.

when they do the surgery, make sure you tell them the specifics about him [like, if he hates being picked up],

and make sure, you bring his favorite food/treats, cuz they will make him want to eat after his surgery. I would also bring a blankie or towel. something, that has your smell on it. That can make him feel better, and hopefully less anxious, too.

Also, do NOT starve him, before surgery.

poor baby, I wish him ((((((Good-Luck)))))) for his neuter!!

            Please, keep us updated

            ^-^

Are’nt bunny growls cute! Shadows teen terror days came suddenly. The neuter helped with the territorial markings, he never pees anywhere except his 2 litter boxes…however he still growls at me when I stop him from doing something he wants to do and I won’t let him! Like climb on the hutch to get into the fruit bowl or when I have to keep him in his room and stop him from running round the house. He is a spoiled brat.
