› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › Trying to rescue some bunnies, but………
Hey guys. Well if you read Nicci’s post about the 150 rabbits I am going to try and get at least one out of there. Just I was wondering if you guys could write some references to my parents. Just about how good I can take care of a rabbit or how much I know about rabbits. If I am asking to much tell me! And if you don’t think I can take care of a rabbit or do whatever feel free to tell me why off the board. I don’t want to make anyone think I am boasting cause some of you guys know way more than I do and maybe you think I can’t take care of a rabbit. I don’t know! Just I need a little help to help the helpless! (lot of helps in that) Thanks so much guys!!!
Your best bet would be to get ahold of the local spca branch there and see if they could do anything about it. They might be able to rescure more than one AND give him a fine for doing it.
OK thanks!! I’ll check around!
Alright I think I did over kill, but there’s 150+ bunnies, right? I emailed 10 rescues who are capable of taking care of rabbits. 8 of them being specifically for bunnies. Others are local spca’s who take care of buns all the time! I hope they contact back soon!
The important part is to get someone in law enforcement in on it to stop the guy from doing this again.
I think it’s really great that you want to get involved with helping rabbits. I’m just wondering how old you are as I missed most of your past posts.
Have you thought about volunteering time at a local rescue/spca? That would be a great way to show your parents how dedicated you are that you will actually give up free time to help rabbits. Good luck!
i know it must be hard to be on this site without actually having a bunny but to be honest i cant see how letters from us will help, your parents arent going to go for it if you get letters from people they have never met, how many years till u are in college? how old are u again?
i really want to vounteer somewhere, but my parents dont have enough time to drive me. i am younger than 16 😉
im sure if you are going to go for, lets say a full saturday, one of the other older volunteers may come and bring you in, ask your parents to take you or ring them up see if there are any volunteers in your area who would like to come and get you on a sat morning and bring u home at night or where do u live? are there bus routes or anything?
There might be a bus I can take. I live in Virginia.
i thought before you had done some research bigsis and they said that if you’re under 16 you have to go with your parents. wasn’t it that you can’t legally volunteer by yourself unless you’re 16?
Oh your right beka! I can’t take the bus because my parents need to be with me! Totally forgot, darn it!

bigsis you have a ferret right?
Yes. I love him so much! I think maybe now I should just focus on him (which I have been doing with 6+ hours out of his cage a day). It doesn’t look like I could get transport here, but I have contacted several rescues in Arizona and 1 in Utah, so maybe they can help!
have u got any pics? i adore ferrets would love to see some pics of him, how come your parents let you have a ferret and not a rabbit?
Ok! Here are some pics. It is sorta a mystery to me why me parents let me get a ferret and not a rabbit, but I think Spinner with out a cage and him not being neutered threw them off. My dad also loves ferrets so maybe that’s why.

wow he is very cute! unusal colour aswell! i would love a ferret but was scared when K&K said that it would eat my bunnies ![]()
Yes I guess there is always a chance your ferret could do that, but Oliver is absolutley amazing around other animals! He either licks my dog or ignores him and also with my rats I would hold them and let Oliver smell them on my hands. He didn’t care. They never had physical contact, but he got out of his cage one day and ignored the rats! I came home and he was just staring at the rats (they were chewing on the cage) and then walked away. So I guess it’s a possiblity to keep rabbits and ferrets together, but if you don’t want to take the risk I understand.
AWWWW!! bigsis!! your ferret is CUTE =)
Oliver is his name? Is he just a baby? he looks so small in the piccy…
***I hope the rescues in AZ will contact you!! gee!! the craigslist ad has been removed, but the bunnies are still out there…thanxx for helping them!!*** I just wish, there weren’t so many irresponsible ppl like that guy out there. its so sick ![]()
i think if i were to have both i would keep them in totally seperate rooms just because im abit of a worry wort hehe
what kind of set up do u have 4 him? u got any pics of that? i am very interested in ferrets as im sure you have figured out! there doesnt seem to be as much info about them as bunnies i find?
Thanks Nicci! I hope so too!
Kimberley: Right now he’s in a really crappy cage, but is only in there when I’m not home. Ferret Nation cages are the best for ferrets though. Here is the ferret forum I am a member of:
forum.ferret.com
And here are some stores and informationitive places:

NIcci: Yeah he’s still a baby. About 20 weeks old! He’s pretty small for his age, but is totally healthy! And yep his name’s Oliver! I call him Olly for short :-D!
