I have a 5 mo. old Holland Lop, that will no longer let me pick her up!  I know rabbits usually don’t like to be held, but my bunny has let me hold her since we got her at 9 weeks old.  Not sure if this is due to hormonal changes?  She will be spayed in about 1 month, I’m hoping this will calm her down enough for me to pick her up!  Has anyone else experienced this?

welcome Floridagirl! Yes – the hormone kicking in can turn a sweet bunny into a wholly terror. They also become a lot more territorial, which may be why she doesn’t want to be held. Glad you have a visit set up to get her spayed, it should really help.

Oh, yes, I agree with gravehearted. She is just at that age. This is normal. I always tell people that a bunny’s personality really comes out as they age. That as babies, even if they have been held and snuggled, most bunnies end up not enjoying it as they reach adulthood. She may become more tolerant after she’s spayed, and she may even enjoy it again – a rare few do, but you may find that you will have to snuggle her while all four on the floor.

Just to be sure though that this is what is happening, and it’s not due to an injury, check her to see if she is sensitive on a particular part of her body.

I’ve never had the luxury of holding my Jessi.  My drama was really w/ her lunging and biting me.  You have to LOVE bunny hormones
