› Forum › THE LOUNGE › Again…Any good movies?
Okay, so this is one of the posts that was lost in our “forum mishap”. Starting from scratch –
Has anyone seen any good…or bad movies lately? If so, what was it?
Indiana Jones was surprisingly good…I am not that big on I.J and I thought it was good.
as far as Rental movies, Juno …that is a must.
the only movie i have seen lately i would see again and again is pirates3
forgetting sarah marshal isquite good
meet the spartans is the WORST film i have ever seen in my life by the end i was ready to poke my eyes out just so i didnt have 2 see anymore
BinkyBunny, no one I know liked Indy Jones 3. There is an online movie review Mr Cranky, that said the movie was “Jar-Jar Binks bad”! I will wait for it to hit net flicks. Juno was great.
yes juno was good
ack ack ack! I just hit the back button and lost my first reply.
Anyway, I recommend Turner Classic Movies on cable TV if you can get it. I had it for free in my apartment but my parents’ cable package doesn’t include it and I am having withdrawal.
Any time day or night you can see uncut, without commercials, versions of movies that run from the 1930s to appx. the 1990s. Really excellent assortment of some great movies along with very obscure ones. One weekend they showed both versions of THE FLY back to back. The next week they might run Casablanca. Really fun. You’ll see the most unexpected assortment – ones you’ve heard of or quoted but never actually sat through. Very entertaining and pretty much rated PG for those of us who are squeemish or have innocent bunnies whose viewing habits we monitor.
oh a TCM fan I just luv bette davis movies and rosalind russel in auntie mame. I like old movies except for bogart eeew. anyway. haven’t been to the movies in a while. I heard sicko was real good. about medical and getting medical care for the micheal I think myers fans. he did farenheit 911 and bowling for columbine I like his stuff. I may have gotten his last name wrong tho mike myers is the one that keeps coming back in horror films hehehe. well I can never get that guys name right the one who did sicko and farenheit 911.
oh the were wolf movies. i read a good book about werecats jaguars and panthers I luv that stuff. and were wolves too. books movies anything.

Lars & the Real girl – I just saw this about a week ago, don’t let the ‘real girl” put you off – this movie is amazing!
Oh, I could go on for pages . . .
Oh yea, I also just saw Death at a Funeral – Very very funny – those crazy Brits!!!
i put Lars on my netflix queue. should be getting it shortly. i love netflix b/c i can see movies i would have never thought to get (b/c i didn’t want to pay five bucks for it), and most of them are pretty good. just about every movie rental place in my city has closed. there might be one left, but it’ll probably go under soon. we rarely go to the movies b/c of work schedules, or we don’t like what’s out, or lack of babysitter, or it’s just plain expensive. we watch lots of movies at home! i also like TCM, when i’m bored at night (Mike always passes out at about 10pm) i will flip thru and sometimes watch whatever’s on. which my husband thinks is weird b/c i’m 24 and apparently i’m not “supposed to” like older movies.
Did I mention I have over 60 movies on my Netflix Queue?
Yea, I love watching movies at home with my sweetie!
lol… only 60? we have *looks quickly* 108 available right now, and 8 saved for when they get released. my husband and i both go on all the time and add new movies. i will bump up something i want to see, and he will then sneak on and bump one of his movies up instead, so i have to quickly go in and change it again right before it sends. we get 3 at a time and it’s perfect.
TELL YA WHAT. IF ANYONE HERE LIKES SCARY MOVIES AND HAS SATELITE TV THERE IS A TV SATION CALLED CHILLER THAT IS THE BEST! SHOWS OLDER AND NEWER SCARY MOVIES AND OLD TALES FROM THE CRYPT SHOWS. (I’M BIG ON HORROR FILMS)
ALSO, (THIS IS KINDA OUT OF SUBJECT) IF ANYONE REALLY LIKES GREY’S ANATOMY, I WAS WATCHING SILENCE OF THE LAMBS AND SPOTTED THE LADY THAT PLAYS ERICA HAUN. SHE IS THE GIRL WHO IS STUCK IN THE WELL. PRETTY COOL TO SEE HER IN SOMETHING LIKE THAT, I THOUGHT
JUNO DEFINATLY IS A MUST SEE FOR ALL AGES
anyone looking forward to the sex and the city movie? im going sunday YAY!
so does netflix send you dvd’s in the mail & then you send them back? or do you stream online? i never did understand how that works.
babybunsmum im from england – i dont even know what netflix is lol
you put movies on a list and netflix sends them to you in a postage paid return envelope. i can send a movie back on monday and i get the next one on wednesday, so it’s very quick turnaround. we’ve had it for almost a year and i love it. plus with no late fees you can keep a movie for a long time. for example, we got an r-rated movie and we had to watch it when Michael was in bed, but my hubby was working overitme so he kept falling asleep BEFORE Michael’s bedtime. we had it for a month before we had a child-free opportunity to watch it. go to the website, i think they have a free trial you can do if you’re interested.
i can hardly wait!!! tonight’s my night to meet one of my gf’s for drinks & i’ll be booking a time where we can goto see it together. we’re both huge fans of the series. in fact i think i’ll pop in my season 4 dvd for a marathon tonight if i can’t go until after sunday you have to promise not to give away any surprises!
hehe i will try babybunsmum but it may be difficult! i have every series im already working my way through hehe
Yea – someone has more movies than me!!!
Netflix also has movies you can stream on your computer – but, I would rather curl up on the couch with J & maybe someday the buns!
Beka – you are never “to young” for classic movies. Don’t hate me for this but, I have never actually seen an episode of Sex in the City – although I use to live in NYC & I love John Corbet! – I was a big Northern Exposure fan – He is really good in Dinner Rush – a favorite “Foodie” Movie
Poesplayhous – I love the really psychological scary movies – Like Jacobs Ladder and The Others. Also the really funny ones Like Shawn of the Dead & Feast. Some where on “the Lounge” is a thread about scary movies.
oh really??? i started watching the re-runs & got seriously hooked, tho i don’t recommend the re-runs where they cut the shows down to 30 mins. they cut out so much good stuff to sqeeze them into those slots! i think i love them because the gals are all tad older than me & were still single through most of the seasons… not your typical ‘get married & have kids’ which is nice to see some of too. also the shows are cleverly written. you should rent a season once and see what you think! season 4 has john corbet… yum
i LOVE any and all the carry on films, my fav is carry on abroad!
Still…waiting…to see…Caspian….*falls over*
I have SO much to do lately, no time for funz.
I had netflix for a year or so and I LOVED it! I gave it up just before I moved. Also had around 100 queue, though I found myself getting a lot of duds. I mean, I’d never seen Myra Breckenridge and it fell under the heading of “two hours of my life I’ll never get back.” Blah.
Also looking forward to Sex & the City movie, though wondering if it will be like the cable version or the TV rerun censored version. I only saw an uncut cable episode once in a hotel room while traveling. Pretty explicit. When I heard they were rerunning it on a regular TV channel, I thought “how can they do that?”. Turns out they filmed each episode with two different versions of every sex scene. Very clever and positive on their part.
I may spring for a ticket to the movies instead of waiting for the DVD for this one. I usually only do that with Harry Potter. (Huge screen must-see for HP. Book 6 has been filmed!!!!! Binky binky binky )
Ahhh…book 6 is in the can?? *drools* I am wondering how the cast is holding up as they’ve got one to go and they’re all getting so….OLD. lolz!
BTW, that reminds me. “My Boy Jack” is out on DVD if anyone wants to see dear Daniel in a different role (although it’s hard to see him as anyone but Harry.)
My sister-in-law and I are going to see “Sex in the City” soon. The ratings haven’t been so great from rottentomatoes.com. I think you have to have been a fan of the show to like it….or so it seems.
Steve and I are going to see something this weekend. Haven’t decided yet what, but I’ll be back with a thumbs up or thumbs down on somethin’
i watched Mad Money with Mike last night. the one with Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes and Queen Latifah. i was a little weary thinking it would be dumb, but i actually really really liked it. it was a pretty smart movie, esp. how they figure out how to pull off the robberies. plus the end was good too. i recommend it.
i’ve heard the same about the sex in the city movie BB. should be fine for me since i love the series! the original episodes are def too risque for regular tv but if the movie is tamed down too a bit i don’t really care… i just love the girlie banter & fashion. i live vicariously through them! i’d live that way myself if i had more money, was way more ‘forward’ dating-wise, and lived in a big city. hahaha. i’m going to see it next weekend
went to see the new indiana jones movie last night & really enjoyed it! cool to see on the big screen with all the action and pretty well written i thought. i was a bit surprised i’d like it as much as i did actually. i’m not usually a big fan of that genre.
i am going to see sex and the city tomorrow WOOHOO!
lucky duck!
