This is our 1st big shed!

Our Precious, an agoudi short hair, is sheding like crazy!

I looked at the FURminator, but $30?  What’s the difference between

the purple & blue ones, same size, but not same price (on Ebay).

        I just love this site!

I have the little blue one. It is a bit of alright. I used it for the first time on our lionhead cross and it just scooped the extra fur off her like a charm. It’s best used VERY gently though, as you don’t want to give your bun a burn on it’s skin and it’s a slightly heavy tool. I’m going to get a large one though, for our MacKenzie Husky who has hair like a shag rug!
I think the comb edge on the blue is just right for bunnies, not too big, not too small. But whenever I put it on the floor so I can reposition my bun it makes a loud ‘clunk’ and scares them! >.<

We also use the blue one. We also use the hairbuster  http://hairbuster.com/   I got the the hairbuster first years ago, and then we tried the furminator a few months ago.  I find that they do equally well.  It’s just that Jack, my bunny who hates to be groomed prefers the furminator, and Rucy seems to like the hairbuster.

Both work really well, but with both you do have to be careful not to over-groom which does seem to be easier to do with the furminator.

With both either of the grooming tools, I find it helpful to get Jack used to it by brushing with one hand and petting with the other, usually one hand before or after the comb or brush.

Also with both tools you have to really follow direcdtions and go with the hair, facing the prongs more horizontally otherwise it can poke a bunny’s sensitive skin.

I’m gonna do some price scouting for furminators. I need to try something as Bindi has been shedding sooo bad and having tons of pearl strand poops no matter how much I use the comb and slicker. Also hubby is tired of going to work full of cat hair!!

I just bought the furminator last week, based on this site’s forum users.  I LOVE it!!!  I have the purple one.  I have 4 cats and 2 rabbits.  It is sooo easy to use.  I have FMS, so my wrists/arms/ muscles cramp up and ache pretty often and this didn’t put any added pressure on me.  You don’t have to work very hard at all, whereas my old standby, a shedding blade required extra force/effort.  My lion head isn’t as fur crazy as my dwarf.  She’s been a real mess this time of year.  I tried the furminator on her, but had issues holding her & maneveur the furminator at the same time.  I want to try w/ my husband’s help, but he’s always afraid that he will be too harsh restraining an animal (could be just an excuse).  The only problems I have had is w/ my cat that likes to rub her face into the brush when she is groomed.  She tried it w/ the furminator which freaked me out & now she won’t go near it.  So she gets the slicker brush only.  I would check out ebay…I saw it there for about $10…I spent $30 but have found it worth every penny.

i also like my furbinator & do not regret the cost one bit!  i bought it for my dog (a mutt with collie-like hair) and was instantly impressed.  it’s seriously better than any other cheaper combs i’ve tried by far tho i haven’t tried the kind bb mentioned.  imho it out-preforms the ones which look likt the furbinator but are cheaper.  the only thing i have found with it is that i cannot use it on baby bun.  her hair is fairly thin (due to her old age?) and i’m afraid it’ll scratch her skin when i put enough pressure on it to comb thru the hair.  pinky, on the other hand, has a very thick coat and it’s great for her.  i do what bb said too… i brush / pet at the same time so that one hand runs the furbinator and the other hand follows right behind.

                    Thanks uou guys,
lots of good info, I’ll probably get the furminator from Ebay, $10 w/$5 shipping, & there are lots of them.
Couldn’t find the Hair Buster on Ebay though.

We promise to be gentle, I have lots of help. The bunnies belong to my teen daughters, thats why I’m Grammy!
Problem is I get to pay most of the bills 🙁

Well.. I just bought one for my buns. I tested it with Pumpkin and she didn’t like it at all. She kept trying to bite it rather than letting me brush her with it. So I just left it in the cage for them to get familiar with. Then Toki tossed it out of the cage pushing it with his head. Totally disapproved!!

When I went to get a Furminator on Ebay, I had my son help me (he is more experienced at this than I am). He pointed out that the $10 blue ones had a bad seller. By clicking “see detailed feedback” we could see that the seller was giving people what one buyer said “100% China knockoffs” not the real thing. Others never got their orders. I didn’t know you could do that, I feel so stupid. : ( So taking those off the list the blue & purple are about the same price. We ordered a purple one because we thought a cats fur is closer to a rabbit than a dogs. With shipping around $22.
Hope they don’t reject it like sep1118’s buns.
