I have been reading alot of the other post about people with buns that have mushy poops people say the bun might be ill. My  rabbit honeybunny does some mushy poos but not all the time and the other time she has regular normal poos. I cant tell if they are the normal cecals cos it seems as though she sits in them and they get squashed onto the floor!! Luckily its a tiled floor so i can clean it easily.  Is this normal or  does this mean she is sick ?? Even though the messy poop is only be every other day??? She doesnt seem sick, she seems very happy and playful.
The mushy messy poop is just a bit of a concern for me.

It could very well be diet related.  First of all welcome here!  What exactly are you feeding your bun?

i’ll third that diet is a likely place to start to help the mushy poop situation since she’s also dropping normal poops and seems healthy otherwise.  my baby bun had mushy poops regularily until i found out i was not supposed to give her unlimited pellets.  when i started measuring 1/4 cup of pellets for her daily and feeding her more greens she also began eating lots more hay.  the mushy poop problem cleared itself right up!  check out binky bunny’s diet page under rabbit info for a great guide & specific info about rabbit diets.

generally tho, the best diet is to give limited pellets, daily fresh greens, both amounts depending on your bun’s wieght and unlimited hay.  many buns will not like eating tonnes of hay if they fill up on pellets or treats.

I feed my bunny less than 1/2 a cup of pellets a day which she doesnt eat  all of anyway. And she has some hay and lucerene hay too. I am in Australia and there isnt much else available here for me to give to her.  She gets a little bit of  carrot every other day. And some bok choy or broccolli. She also gets a sultana or too as a treat. I dont really change her diet that much at all and sometimes she can be really good for 4 or so days then have a messy day. So im not sure what is causing it. I am going to start to slowly introduce some more fresh green stuff into her diet from what was on the list on this site.  My honey bunny is about 1 yr old and she is a lop bunny.

Hi Bunnykins and welcome! I’m an aussie too and the best hay we can get for our buns here is oaten hay, if you can find it. My Freddy prefers it over the other hays and eats a lot more of `it.
Where abouts do you live? I’m in Melbourne, but I know we have a couple of Perth girls who visit this site too.
Also, photos!!!! We’d love to see some pics of your honey bunny!

I will add some photos soon. She hardly sits still long enough for me to take them!! I am from Canberra. I haven’t been able to find any oaten hay. The only things places stock are normal straw like hay and lucerene hay.  Is this stuff still ok for her as i dont have access to much else?
