Ever considered a bunny and a turtle living together in harmony? Think they can be bonded in some ways? WAs just thinking, the turtoise and the hare, so I looked up some pics online and found one of a bun and a turtle sharing a water dish….

        hmmm…just a thought to ponder

What an image! I would think that the turtle might bite the bun. But then I know nothing about turtles. We need a turtle expext to help answer this one…

            Why Not!

Do turtles have teeth?  Mmmm they always look so gummy to me.

I could not see a bun and a turtle snuggling up together though.

Boy, do they ever (have teeth)!

There are a lot of turtle rescues here in FL, and I went to this preserve nearby that rescues and studies turtles. (We’re talking babies all the way up to ones the size of a trash can lid.)

They love salads! They may be slow, but they would fight your bunny for dinner and win.

I wouldn’t put a turtle with a mammal just for the safety of the mammal. They are one of the oldest species for a good reason.

Of course I don’t recomend mixing Turtles/ Torts and bunnys together. But I could see them all getting along with each other if you have the right temperments.

My Little Nate ( well not so little any more) would love to have a bunny as a friend but he would want to swim in thier water bowl all day.  (of course I don’t recomend it for many resons&#160. Nate love everyone, he is a very playful guy if you can belive it.  He loves his human attention.

Now a tort I don’ t know how friendly they would be to a bunny. I had a lepored tort but unforchanally  he did not live very long.  I only had him for 6 months before he passed, he was only about  4 to 5 inchs long……Poor little dozer…..

Here is a pictures of Nate and Dozer……I love my turtles…..=-)

What a gorgeous turtle! I wonder though if they carry anything that can be transmitted to rabbits or vice-versa.

I love turtles but don’t have any.

What a cool pet to have … do you have them inside in their own pool area.

Wow I think that is great!

Oh now I know they have teeth … thanks

Now that would be a weird pair!  I agree though it’s probably not a good idea.  Turtles can probably really hurt a bun if they snapped at him/her.

My husband found a Russian tortoise in our backyard last year. It was a very neat animal, I did a lot of research on it (of course, he had to find it over the weekend on a Saturday!). We stormed off to the vet with it to make sure it was ok and one lady there was knowledgable about tortoises.
My very first thought was: if I bring it into the house, what about the rats? Diseases? I believe I had read they can harbor some sort of bacteria that can be harmful to my rats. I’m too lazy to look it up now. The lady at the vet’s confirmed that, too. I had to look up things very quickly… It was so very neat! We wanted to keep him but it wouldn’t have been fair to him so we brought him to the Turtle and Tortoise Rescue here in San Diego. He now lives in a huge enclosure with other tortoises.
While he was with us, we were paranoid about those bacteria tortoises can harbor; by the time he went to the rescue, my hands were raw from washing them so much.
Yes, they do have teeth and can snap! That tortoise loved dandelions. SNAP! That thing was gone. Very cute!
                        I would not keep a tortoise/turtle with a rodent.

i had a red-eared slider growing up. i am guessing there is probably something that could be transmitted to the rabbit. i was always very careful with thoroughly washing my hands after handling. they do have teeth. i would not put them together longer than for a quick supervised photo shoot….

Red eared slider is what my first pic is, He lives in my living room, in an 86 gallan tank. Its about 4 feet long. He loves to follow my finger across the tank.

I wouldn’t let my bunnies and the Turtle to hang out, Trutles are known to carrie salmela, I don’t know it bunnies can get it but I know humans can, and its very hard to get over, I always wash my hand every time I handle my turtle.
