        Hi there,

I’m new to the group here and just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and of course my baby girl!

This is Smudge, she’s an American Fuzzy Lop and 1 1/2 years old. I’ve had her for a year now and everyday she teaches me knew things. I’ve had many pets before and loved them all, but nothing has quite compared to the bond I have with her. She’s had a troubled past, her three previous owners could not get close to her no matter how they tried, so she spent all of her time in a cage while her sister (who was much more social) was played with and let out. When we first met she was hiding in her carrier and would not come out or let herself be touched. I sat down and after awhile she approached me, let me pet her and then spent the next 3 hours in my lap having her head scratched and butting me for attention when I stopped scratching her. I got the perfect rabbit for me, she has attitude and spunk always knows how to put on a show. We were meant to be

Here are some more pics I’m definately one of those camera-happy moms!!!

This one is Smudge at almost 6 months old, I can’t get over how little she was!

Mommy had to give me a full bath because I decided to roll in a mud bath outside… needless to say I was NOT impressed!

This is her little snuggle buddy – we like to call him bob lol she really loves him

By the way… I was wondering if anyone had any tips in making a bunny burito?? Smudge is great when she is getting her nails cut except for the one nail (I’m blanking on the term for the nail but it would be the “thumb” position on a human) she wont let me get to it most of the times and it’s getting to that time again. Thanks!

aww so cute, i find the easiest way to bunny burrito is 2 throw the towel onto their back scoop them up (gently) and turn them over, keep them there for a while and relax them then try the nail clipping if they get stressed calm them down again before continuing.

Thanks so much! I just tried the bunny burrito and after she calmed down a bit I was able to lift each of her front paws and cut that pesky nail and the others while I was there it was soooooooo much easier then the usual ordeal that goes on when its time to cut her nails

I have found that the ‘Trouble’ bunnies are usually anything but. I don’t know if I am part bunny whisperer but whenever a new rescue comes in that people say is bitey or grunts and doesn’t want anyone near them, I instantly go get them, put them on my lap and within five minutes, they’re purring up a storm. I think it has to deal with them having someone who knows how to handle them and isn’t afraid to do so.

Although the bitey ones do nip me if I stop petting them or when they decide that cuddle time is over – but they are never hard nips and after a couple of ‘no’s, they don’t do it anymore.
