Hi ilh369! Actually bonding does not need to happen before anything. You’ll want to start right away with litter box training, learning to not reach your hands into the cage to enfore it as your rabbits “safe” haven, when your bun is litterbox trained, let them have the run of a small penned-in area and sit with them and read to bond. Offer up a small treat to encourage the rabbit to learn humans are O.K. and graduate up to petting them. Wait for the harness some time before trying that, and truly, a harness should be used rarely. A vet visit should happen within the first few weeks you get your rabbit to establish a good baseline with your vet and to ensure there are no health problems or concern that need immediate attention….no matter where you get your rabbit from. Also, if your rabbit is not altered, when they visit the vet, it is a good time to discuss it then, otherwise you will be dealing with a very unruly rabbit who will be tough for you to bond with.
