Hello all.  I am relatively new to the bunny world, and many of you know I rescued a famale(dumped outside by my neighbors!!) bunny, Daphne, two weeks before Christmas last year.  She had 4 babies the day after Christmas, and they have all been spayed/neutered now (including Mommy) for about 3 weeks.   I anticipated the “marking” of poops to all but disappear after the alterings but it doesn’t seem to have.  I am neurotic and clean the litter boxes every day.  They have a large play area blocked off for them (approx. 10’x5′), their toys, PLENTY of hay/veggies/water/pellets, two cardboard “houses”, a willow tent, an igloo thingie….. in other words, they’re at the Hilton!  Any ideas on this marking?  It looks like a minefield until I sweep it twice a day… and they are also using the litter boxes!  ;-)

It takes AT LEAST 4-6 weeks for the hormones to die down so just be patient!

yes, I think patience is the key, as knowltons said. i am so glad you got them all spayed and neutered!
you can also start working to box train them – add more boxes and limit their roaming territory until they master box habits. once they’ve improved you can slowly increase their play area. also – try adding some treats – like a sprig of herbs or fresh hay to encourage them to spend time in their box

yeah Floppy still jumps on my bed and leaves poopies for me. I put them back in his litterbox, as in “NO THANKS!”
lol overall though he is good about it and it certainly isn’t even close to being a mine field, so hopefully things will
get better soon after the hormones die down. goodluck!

Ok, I will add another litter box (I have three BIG ones, and I will put in a fourth), I have tried the rosemary sprig on the litter box, too.  Again, they are using them, they’re just using the floor too!  ;-)  It’s really not a huge deal, I just thought they should be using it exclusively by this point.  I will give it time… no problem.

                Thanks for the suggestions!!

Oreo had a suprise litter.  I am so new to the bunny world actrually January 25th of this year.  I was running into the same with the poop.  This is what I learned.  Baby bunnies have a dreadful attention issue.  If you keep giving them a clean little box they loose sight of where they are supposed to go.  So they just go anywhere.   Recently (about a week) I have been caging (they have everyhting they need) the boys at night they have picked a corner and are using most of the time.  They have accidents with only the poop urine they use the cage.  I have also noticed that the boys have less control over the bowels.  Oreo (the mom) is 7 months old and does well.   Oreo is not caged she has the run of the house all the time.
