WE got this area rug awhile ago, and we both work morning shift so lunch breaks we let him out and when we get home he has 7 hours of free time. HE jumps kicks his legs in the air, and he does these jump spins which are too funny. He has a habbit of getting into our treat container, these yogurt drops are like heroin to him i sware he goes crazy for them. The other night we didnt have a chance to let him out for free time cause we had a dinner to go to. And the next mornign he woke us up at 5am, thumping his feet. Annoying but we deserved it. Thsi weekend we are going away for the weekend so were bringing him with us. I dont know how he is going to react the the whole car situation its 7 hours of driving but he should be fine. Any tips on car traveling to make his ride more comfortable would be handy. Thank-you all!

          Welcome commander!

          I had to laugh at:

these yogurt drops are like heroin to him i sware he goes crazy for them.

I’m babysitting a little lionhead for a friend and he’s the same way. He will hardly eat pellets, won’t touch any veggies, has no idea what hay is, but you even walk near where the yogurt drops are kept and he’s a crazy man. Starts bouncing off the walls and hanging over the edge of the condo. Once he even launched himself onto my chest, grabbed the candy and bounded back into his cage without even realizing what he’d done.

I give him one in the morning and one at bedtime, but I worry that his lusting for them keeps him from eating anything else. I feel his little backbone quite clearly.

I’ve even thought about spraying a bit of watered down molasses on the pellets and hay to see if he would start eating them a little.

          thanks for the laugh! Kathy

Glad to hear you have such a happy bunny! I will caution, though, that yogurt drops are really quite terrible for rabbits– they don’t need either the sugar or the fat in their diets, and the drops can easily cause them to gain too much wait or have stomach problems. I would suggest you put them somewhere he absolutely cannot get them (like a cabinet up high) and only feed them very sparingly. I would suggest trying healthier treats like rosehips, papaya tablets, or little pieces of fruit– store bought rabbit treats tend to be nutritionally quite poor.

The treat that my buns are addicted to is Papaya Tablets. It is great for them because it is supposed to help keep fur balls at bay. They see/hear the container and they flip out-even more so than they ever did over yogurt or raisins.
I think Binky sells them and you can also get them from Oxbow themselves. Chris’s Squirrels and things also has them at a good price as well.
