I noticed that too. I think it is both we check for new threads and also new people hiding out being shy. I do check post for new threads but it wouldn’t explain 300? views so shy people please share we would love to hear from you

i’m betting there are a lot of lurkers driving those numbers up. some people don’t really like forums, or they’ve had bad experiences in the past thru forums (some can get nasty mean.) if just reading the responses helps them out tho, i think that’s awesome.

I’ve noticed that too. I am guilty of adding to the views vs. posts because a lot of the time I open the discussions to read them and make sure that there are no forum voilations and whatnot and if there is anything for me to add. I’m part forum cop and part community leader, making sure everyone feels comfortable and getting the advice/input they need while making sure it stays friendly! I also think that there are a lot of lurkers who are younger and the parents will not let them join for obvious reasons and concerns (which I totally understand and support) and I am glad at the very least they are tapping a great resource on the internet to learn about proper rabbit care. Lets face it too, internet forums can be intimidating and some just don’t care for it either. I do wish we had more posters vs. just browsers but in the end the ultimate goal is to spread the word about proper rabbit care and change the life of one rabbit at a time for the better.

I agree with Bunnytowne, I check post several times a day, but I do it when I am at work. I don’t always have the luxury of replying, so I try to note post I want to go back to when I get home. Then my computer crashes or I post a reply and it does not take. So I can account for a lot of that total.

But for the rest of you…come on out and play!

yes there probably are some lurkers, but if you ask a question you will keep going to check if anyone answered of if anyone responded to your replies, plus everytime you click submit it refreshes the page which is another view, there wont be many lurkers when you take this into consideration, although i did lurk for a few months before i spoke 2 *blush*

I do recheck threads quite a bit without replying. Most of the time it is because I really have nothing worthwhile or helpful to add to the conversation and I don’t want to clog the thread or make it harder to scroll for someone who is looking for a specific answer to a question. After all, if I want to ‘chat’, that’s what the chatroom is for. Unless of course someone is needing healing vibes, encouragement or a candle lit, which I am rather capable of doing.
I did lurk here for a bit when I first arrived, but it was easier for me to jump in when I did because I have forum and moderator experience. Still, when it comes to posting, if I have a specific thing to say I either say it or start a new post if it’s about my bunnies. Otherwise I let those with greater knowledge than myself answer, so I don’t annoy anyone or look like an upright blue dummy. ^_^
But oh I DO love to read and reread the posts. I learn so much more that way!

yes, i think it is more to do with people coming to read what everyone else has said, trying to learn stuff, seeing peoples responses and the refreshing thing rather than lurkers, but u are right rabbit pam i think all those lurkers should *scary voice* come out come out wherever they are! hehe

im the same, i havent been a part of another site like this one, where i actually look forward to going on, i think when im on my way home ‘ok so when i get in im gonna stick dinner on then i gotta hoover oh yeah then i gotta pay my gas bill and then its BINKYBUNNY TIME WOOHOO hehe’ *blush*

I have to admit that I lurked for quite a while before registering. Even now when I post I feel like a bit of an outsider. Not at all because I don’t feel welcome – just feel a bit shy, like I’m crashing a party or something! That’s prob why it took me so long to post originally.
I gleamed most of my bunny info from forums like this one though…and I really knew next to nothing when I began. So this forum is definately educating and spreading good info about bunny care.

Awe Jess, thank you for sharing our experience with us and being honest. I can see how it would seem a bit like you are crashing a party because there are all of us “regulars” here that post and chitter chatter with frequency, but please do not feel that way at all. We’re a great big group of loving rabbit owners who always have room for one more and love new faces! The whole idea is a safe place for rabbit owners both new and old to gather together, chit chat, share knowledge and learn. And grant my words, pretty soon, you’ll be helping to answer questions too!

I’m so glad the forum has been such a positive experience, and I am grateful to have such warm and caring members that have found their spot here and have made great connections and friendships.

And Jyka, your not crashing a the party. When you come here you are part of the party. So welcome! I know that if other members have been on here a while and they seem to get each other’s humor or sort of have a comfortability with each other, then I can understand your feeling, but they were once where you were too.

Hey Jyka  … whereabouts in Melbourne do you live?  I went to Melbourne in Feb this year and absolutely loved the city … so much to see … and very clean compared to Perth City.  That place has so much history … I love the older type buildings and some of the old quaint pubs that I visited for a wine or two.

I live in SE Melbourne, near Caulfield station. About 10mins from the city. Ahh yes, the quaint pubs…used to visit quite a few of those once apon a time!
My Dad had the brill idea to drive over the Nullabour plain to get to Perth one school holiday. We spent most of the hol in the car driving 8-9 hrs a day just to stay in Perth for 10 days! The drive was a great experience, seeing the desert on one side of the road and the ocean on the other (basically driving across the “bite”) but gee it was a long drive and I get car sick.
Loved Perth itself. Loved the view from the botanical gardens and the swans. I was only 13-14yrs old so definately have to get back there!

What did you do with Luey when you came to Melb? I have no idea what we are going to do with Fred when we go on holidays…he is such an entrenched house bun!

We lived in Melbs for a while when our family migrated from the UK … stayed at the hostel in Nunawadding.  My dad drove over on the Nullabor to Perth and Mum and us kids followed later on the train … now that was so much fun!  I have a friend who lives in Nunawadding too.

My daughter looked after Luey when I was in Melbs for the week.  Pearl stayed with her Dad and she came into the house every day to see to Luey and the piggies.  It worked out well.  Do you have perhaps someone, either a friend or family member who could visit the house and see to your bun.  I recently went away for 2 nights with Pearl and left the animals for those nights on their own … they were ok … just gave them plenty of hay and water, but I would not leave them for any longer.
