All three of my crew are moulting pretty bad right now. Henri and Lilly seem to be taking it in stride (it takes a LOT more then moulting to get Henri worked up!) but Acorn is another story all together!! He has been chasing everyone around the house and charging at us. I can handle it and so can Matt but I am worried that he is going to royally p** off one of the kitties and get swiped at for it. I can’t think of anything else that has changed. Henri and him are still living together but they are getting along fine and he isn’t charging at Henri, it’s me and the cats he is charging.

I feel so bad for him too because he looks quite funny. I know that Henri gets wired spots when he moults but I didn’t really expect Acorn to. He doesn’t have any bald spots or anything but it is really obvious where he has already shed and where he is still shedding. I have been brushing him pretty much everyday and he doesn’t mind that at all.

Is this normal behavior for a moulting bunner or is there likely something else here I am missing?

Dono apparently is a real terror when he molts. Just finding that out now.

lol.  i hadn’t heard of this before but it sure splains some things.  i was just trying to ‘sneak attack’ yoink some loose tufts from pinky & got some grunts from her while she spun around to give me the butt.  this is just normal for baby bun’s personality so it’d be hard to notice any changes due to molting.

So when is this going to stop I’m having to brush Edson every other day – should do it daily.  I can see little short hair under the longer stuff.  They say they do this serious shed  around their birthday.  Since I have no clue when Edson was born can I assume he was born around now? Is this true with your buns?

Shedding happens when there are major changes in weather. It takes my buns about 2 weeks to do a full shed.

Pepper gets PMS – Pre-Moulting Syndrome!  She is grumpy and hides a lot.  I don’t know if it’s the hormones that cause the shed, if she’s itchy, or if she just knows she looks funny…

Molting is a serious shedding that takes place once or twice a year. Right now they are losing their winter coat with a new spring coat coming in. Edson is looking pretty funny. I can see all the short hair trying to emerge! Apparently it lasts about 2 weeks. Major brushing is in order!

                          Ohh…maybe that’s why I got growled at!
