Hello!! I am Maria. I have been reading about you guys for a while and now I have finally registered. I am so happy to be here!  I have really learnt a lot from you and you have helped me become a better bunny mum! Cats and dogs have owned me all my life =), but I had never been employed by a rabbit before!! Baileys is my first bun and I am absolutely in love with him. He is a four month old male Holland Lop. I also have five dogs and two cats. I am a teacher and a dog trainer. Baileys has his own bunny room and access to his own ‘bunnyproofed’ garden, where he can run and bask in the sun. He also has a three story rabbit condo, although he is seldom ‘locked’  there. He has to be there when I bring him to interact with the dogs, which is something I like to do so that they accept him as a memeber of the family. He shares time with the two cats and one of my dogs, who is a little Lhasa Apso, but I am afraid of having him loose with the rest of the pack, since one of them in particular has strong predatory instincts. However, she has been behaving beautifully so far.

Baileys has been behaving very well. He is litter trained and comes binkying happily when called. Of course he has chewed a few wires and stuff, but how can I not forgive him????? I love him to bits!

I just wanted you to meet us, I will post a picture of baileys soon.

        Mary and Baileys.

WELCOME Mary and Baileys! (aka: Bunnycraze) Happy to have you here! Wow, it sounds like quite the fuzzy crew you have! And what a great set-up for you bunny! How does he react to the other animals? Is he curious or timid? Here is a link about how to introduce dogs and bunnies: http://www.rabbit.org/journal/1/dogs.html, and here is another about how to introduce cats and bunnies http://www.rabbit.org/journal/2-11/cats-and-rabbits.html

It looks like you already know to be very careful with dogs who can be predatory. I’ve seen dogs and rabbits get along wonderfully with dogs and I have also heard of horror stories, so it’s great that you are taking the extra care.

We’d love to see more pictures of the set-up and garden – sounds great! Do you ever have to worry about prey animals in your garden – like birds of prey, etc…

Hi!! Thanks for such a warm welcome!!! Yes, BB, I have a big fuzzy family. I think that looking after animals is my mission in life. Three of our dogs are rescued dogs. The other two are border collies who are ‘assistant teachers’ when I am in my training sessions with other dogs. Thank you for the links, they are truly great. My cats are ok with Baileys and so is my little lhasa apso. One of my border collies, who has a particularly strong bond with me, looks after Baileys as if he was a baby! He won’t let anybody near him! If he was a female, I’d think she thought it was her puppy! I will post a picture of Bonus protecting Baileys soon.
I have some questions to share and I will definitely be around to learn from the experts!!! Again, thank you for your welcoming messages!!
