Ok yall, My rabbit Cookie just got away from me and when I went looking for her I found her in my 4 yr olds bed bleeding from her nose and looks like she may be bleedin from the mouth! What do I do?! No vet open in my area til Monday!!!!!! I don’t know what happened think maybe my lil girl may have squeezed her or she may have hopped off the bed…. Please help us, I don’t know what to do…..!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my, I don’t have much to offer. I’d say deal with the bleeding like a first aid situation, use pressure and bandages to staunch it if necessary, make sure the bunny eats and drinks, and go to a vet on Monday. i really hope someone else has more information.
is there not an emergency vet around? try calling your vet and they may have an automated message saying we are closed call this number for an emergency.. or phone your local directory and ask them!
Ronda Gene, how’s your bun doing? Where you able to find an emergency vet? Please let us know!
Just read this so probably late, but call the nearest vet listed in your phone book and get an emergency number if your own vet didn’t provide one on theirs. A dog/cat vet or animal hospital close by and open in an emergency is much better than waiting – they all have animal emergency training basically.
You also can call the National Animal Poison Control Center 1-800-548-2423. Some bleeding might be caused by something she ate (probably not from your description) but I think more importantly they may be able to give you immediate first aide help over the phone. Worth a try.
were you able to find a vet yet?!
Your poor little bunny. I hope she’s okay!!!
I am so sorry I am late as all of us CL’s are tied up until the end of April. I sure hope you were able to find an emergency vet!
ooo my – is she ok? were you able to get into a vet?
How is she today? Did you get hold of a vet?
update!!
Do you have any updates this morning? Is she feeling any better?
Did you go to the vet???????????????????
Yes, please tell us what is going on. I hope that everything is OK!
Hey yall! I’m sooooo sorry it took me soooo long to reply…. For some reason I’ve been having trouble tryin to login to binkybunny, but It let me tonight…
Cookie is FINE! Yall are probably gonna laugh and make fun of me, but It wasn’t really blood!!!! I took her to the vet though. One that I found open for emergencies…. They had a real big laugh out of me! I go in there all panicked, and the vet looked her over and said hmmm, I don’t know what this could be but it isn’t blood… Then my 4 yr old fessed up and told him that she put lipstick on cookie!
It’s that runny kind u know, jus some old stuff that I gave her, it comes in a tube with a stick and all, but I swear it looked just like blood to me! However Dallas had dropped cookie, or she jumped of the bed or something but anyway all it amounted to was a sore foot. Nothing broken. Thank God! But now she is perfect hopping around happy as ever! What a doofus I can be huh.?. But now my lil girl understands no more makeovers for Cookie, and she was really upset about the trip to the vet, so now she is extra, extra careful with Cookie. So I guess a lot of good really came out of it….
OMG! That is hilarious! I am so sorry to laugh at your expense but that story is priceless! I’m so glad everything worked out for the best.
Kisses to Cookie, but don’t use lip gloss!
LMAO! don’t worry, I’ve laughed about it a lot myself, now that I’ve gotten over the embarrassment! My husband laughed till I thought he was gonna have a heart attack!
I’ve been keeping Cookie out of the lipstick! Or my lil girl rather…. LOL! But it’s so funny cause Cookie must have liked it cause me and the vet were asking, What was she doing while you were putting lipstick on her, and she said, just wiggling her nose, and demonstrated it for us at the vet! LOL! I could have crawled under a rock!
I am so glad that she is OK. Kids and animals do come up with some wacky things together!
OMG! How hilarious!…and expensive! Kids! And here I worried about this all day!
oooo my goodness!! phew!!! it’s funny the ideas that kids get.
LMAO!!!!! That’s such a happy ending and a great story you’ll tell for years!!!!
You KNOW that someday when your daughter gets engaged it will be the first story you tell him….
Anyway, you can make it sound serious by saying that lip gloss may be hazardous (…mmmph…) if swallowed by a (…gfaw…) bunny. (Sorry, still laughing.) And it WAS a great way to teach bunny care to your daughter. Maybe it was a dry run that you’ll never need to do again. Your vet will always be happy to see you from now on!
oh my lord.
hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!
thank goodness she is okay. that is too funny. i feel bad you had to go thru the stress tho. oh my…
o… m…. gosh! lol! i was also worried about this. i felt so sad when i read this thread yesterday & saw that you hadn’t responded. of course, i thought it was the worst case & that something terrible had happened. blood coming from the nose & mouth is never a good thing.
except in the case where the blood is actually lipstick. bwahahahaah! liptsick. too funny. you got punk’d by your daughter & bun.
My first thought on hearing that it was lipstick was that well I guess you’ll have to admit now that your lipstick actually HAS been tested on animals!
THis is the kind of thing that – when you think it’s blood – is horrifying at the time and later on you wish you’d gotten a picture of it.
– Annette
hehe aww good story though!
ANNETTE!!!! You’re so bad! Wish I’d thought of that. Tested on animals…LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Love that! LOL!!
Glad to hear all is ok.
OH WHEW!!!!! Well, it ended up being a lesson in bunny safety and handling and thank goodness it turned out okay and….ended up being soooo funny. As soon as I read that, I had to read that out loud to others.
That is one of the best stories I have heard! I will be sharing this w/ all the child therapists/ psychologists tomorrow at work. Sounds like something a kid would do…”I just wanted the bunny to be pretty!” I used to dress our dog up in baby doll clothes and tote her around in my doll buggy. You are a kind, patient mommy! I think my mom would have kicked my a** if I had caused an emergency vet fee.

Ahahahh that’s HILARIOUS!!!!!
We need to change the title of this post “Emergency! 911! Bunny wearing lipstick that’s so not her color!!” LMAO!!
SOOO glad she’s ok!!
ROFL!!!! Oh my word!!! How cute but at first how frightening! I hope you know we’re going to remember this the next time someone might inquire abuot the same thing. This is going into BB history.
Your poor little girl learned a valuable lesson and at least no one was harmed, just a few frazzled nerves. My best to your daughter’s future relationship with Cookie.
