We had a 5.4 earthquake this morning at 4:30 then we had a 4.5 at 10:15 along with several small aftershocks. I checked on Tonks this morning after the first one and she was ok. So I let her out to have the run of the bunny room while I was at work. I was not at home during the 2nd one. When I got home a bit ago she had not touched her veggies I put out this morning and she was hiding in one of her bunny forts. She ALWAYS eats her veggies first and she always comes right out to see me when I come home. Do you think the earthquakes have stressed her out???? She’s still peeing and poopping so I guess thats good. I just hate that this upset her that much!!!  Although I can’t blame her, I have been a basket case all day because we hardly ever have earthquakes!!!

hmmm there was quite a shocker … was it end of last year or this year …I forgot but it was 4.something I believe.
Floppy hopped back into his cage area but that was it. He has been thumping here and there the past couple of nights
but I think its for attention…cause apparently he thinks he doesn’t get enough! He didn’t seem stressed by it though…

I would think rabbits are even more sensitive to earthquakes than any other animal except for moles and such. They feel the earth still hshaking long after we can’t feel it anymore.
My cats used to bug out right before an earthquake, and I couldn’t get them to come out from under the bed for days! I think we’re about due for some kind of nasty one here in Alaska soon too, it’s been too long since the last one.

Perhaps some nice calming music will soothe poor bun.

Try getting a gallon of drinking water and mixing (I think 1 tsp) of Pedi electrolyte (in the baby dept. of wal-mart) That helps rabbits with stress. That is what the breeder gave me when I bought my rabbit and she told me that it helps with stress…maybe it would help your bunny if she is still stressing.

Oh dear. I do not think that pedilyte is going to help with stress, it only helps with dehydration and a bunny who will not drink water and may help since she is not eating. Buy some very fragrant goodies like cilantro or mint and crush it in front of her to entice her into eating it. Something that I have used for stress is Bach’s Rescue Remedy, it is a flower essence that I place 4 drops in a crock of water. Bunnies are very sensitive creatures and yes, the earthquake would most definately have her rattled. I am very glad to hear she is still peeing and pooping, give extra cuddles and assurance everything is O.K. you may want to move her in your room where she is close to you since she is a single bun and does not have a companion to help get her through this. I purchase the Rescue Rememdy from my local health food store.

Try and cuddle with her. I’ve found that it works with my bunny when he’s stressed(also you create a stronger bond with your bunny). Now he is always acting sstressed and I have no choice but to cuddle with him s’more. And always give him a good treat that your bunny likes. It relaxes them and they will eventually forget.
