› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › Ok so i know i have been posting alot but..
I am really sorry guys for all the posts i know u are probably fed up with my moaning and stories but i just have 2 let this out before i have a fit! The vet who was doing hopscotch (who is the only rabbit savvy vet i liked and trusted enough and who got all the bunny Q’s right like no starving and stuff) said he cant do it on friday because he has a more urgent case, which is fair enough if it is more urgent but i am just really annoyed, the next date will be 3 weeks time at the soonest.. i am really really annoyed
and to make things worse, the lady who said i cant have the new bun now phoned me up shouting at me saying if i want this effin bun i better get over here and get him this effin weekend cuz she is gettin effin peed with him and all this rubbish so i am apparently going 2 pick him up on friday, she is really annoying me aswell and my new hutch isnt ready so i had to get a temp one which is rubbish and i am just really fed up with the lot of it, i cant let that bunny go 2 anyone i couldnt forgive myself if he got into the wrong hands and i also cant let some butcher do hopscotchs neuter so i dont know what to do.. URGH!
sorry.. rant over.. and sorry to do all ur heads in guys ![]()
Oh dear
Kimberley I may be able to help you out with a rabbits savvy vet. Which part of Birmingham are you in if don’t mind me asking?
I don’t understand how they can’t fit him in for three more weeks? usually i can get any of my ops booked in for same day if not next day and neuters take up very little theatre time.
Don’t worry about what kind of hutch you are putting new bun in, at least he will be in a better place!
How frustrating – I hope charlie82 can help you find a vet for Hopscotch’s neuter – that would be great.
Not sure what to say about that lady…
i am in hall green, the vet i use is one where my family has taken there dogs and stuff for years and years, it is a really busy practice as it is very well known and there is 2 vets running 3 different surgeries, also the vet was abit dubious to do it because hopscotch only ways 1.5lbs and is 4.5 mnths.. he said he isnt sure.. i said well i dont wanna do it if it isnt safe so i took him down 2 have a look and he said he would do it, which scared me a little as he wouldnt have said anything about it if he knew it was ok?
hmm anyone got any ideas on this?
People getting rid of their animals are so utterly annoying sometimes
Just think – this will pass…soon it will be over and you’ll have a new bun in a loving home ![]()
maybe – if there is another vet nearby – you can get a second opinion on hopscotch’s readiness due to his weight / age and so forth? it’s a good thing what you’re doing in taking the new bun in. i’m sure the temp set-up you have will be more than fine enough considering where the bun is coming from. ugh. some people are frightening.

1kg is the standard weight for a bun to have to be before being considered to be neutered. 1.5kg is perfectly fine so long as everything is developed :-) Phoebe was 1.3kg when she was spayed and that is a much bigger op. Also, remember that breeds like Netherland dwarfs and Polish are far smaller that your average rabbit and are spayed and neutered without problems. Males can be neutered as young as 12-14 weeks.
Working on getting you rabbit savvy vet info……
ok…I’m going to list a few that have been suggested by people who have lots of bunnies as pets, or run rescues. All vets are recommended by people who know A LOT about rabbits so they will be trustworthy and rabbits savvy…. Excuse me if I get the location wrong though because I am not that familiar with Birmingham…only been twice for children’s books prize events…
Pet Vaccine clinic…. http://www.petvaccinationclinic.co.uk (Their prices will be a little lower than private practices)
Manor vets on Hagley Road and Halesowen. (I hope that makes sense to you)
more to follow…just waiting on people getting back to me….
another one… vet in particular is Deborah Hope

*HUGS* I hate bad days!! It’ll get all figured out in the end!! *hug*
thanks charlie! oh u are a life saver! i will give them a call first thing in the morning
any ideas of what 2 do until the spay? ie. will i have pee everywhere and stuff from when each bun can smell the other? what have i let myself in for? lol
Hi,
Kimberley from what I have been told I would go with the 608 Veterinary group if it is close enough. It seems the vet I mentioned is very rabbit savvy and keeps herself up to date via the Rabbit Welfare association and attends all of their conferences. Chances are you won’t have to wait too long before you can get him in. Yes, you will probably have to deal with pee and everything else when your new bun comes on the scene!! unless you opt to keep them in seperate rooms. my house bunnies are perfectly litter trained, but I have to deal with stray poops and the occasional pee (although they are good with that) in the summerhouse because there are multiple buns in there and they can all smell /see one another.
The joys of having multiple buns!!! I hope you can get the bonded, the sooner Hopscotch is neutered the better so his hormones can die down 😉
I just want to add that I always enjoy reading your posts, even if you’re having a bad day and need sympathy and/or advice.
I am actually glad you can go get your new bunny before that nutcase changes her mind again.
As for pee, I’m thinking get a bunch of cheap shower curtain liners and just cover up your couches and beds for a couple of weeks until all is well.
argh. my computer is being glitchy here.
Thanks for all your help and comments i am sooo glad i found this site it is amazing! thanks everyone!
