I was wondering if it is OK to give an adult rabbit a “snak shak”. It says its made of Alfalfa hay (which I believe adult rabbits are not supposed to have?) and golden honey.

Even though they are made for bunnies and to eat, I probably wouldn’t. Who knows what else is in there? And I have never seen one even remotely big enough for a bunny. Just my opinion….

yeah I saw them to they are cheaper at Kmart same thing too. but noooo I am so tempted but refrained cuz made of alfalfa and he wouldn’t be eating his other hay or timothy pellets so I passed also I dont’ know about the honey so was leary of that too. if he has alfalfa he will only eat that. and I didn’t want to retrain him to eat timothy

I admit I recently bought a Snak Shak log filled with treats/hay for Jazz…he’s been chewing on it off and on…

I bought it for my buns awhile ago. They ate the hay but not the house. I buy the Blue Hay from this website which has alfalfa in it and give it to my buns as treat sometimes. I use it as a treat hay and they like it a lot. I stuff it in toilet paper rolls and they have fun for hours.

I think you just have to be careful HOW much your bunny consumes. Too much fat and carbs can cause long-term digestive problems – imbalances that can lead to serious problems. So if he nibbles here and there in small amounts then it is okay for an occasional new treat, but if the snak shack is on a consumption attack then you may have to limit its availability.

Yeh…I bought that snack shak almost a year and a half ago…Kokanee ate the roof asap and then didn’t care for it. Kahlua decided she liked the tree part and ate maybe a fist sized amount over a few months (lol my *big* eaters ) anyways, I found it to be safe, but way to small for them to get in!
