I just brought my rescue bunny home about 32 hours ago. She had her spay on Tuesday afternoon. She is eating Hay and veggies not much pellets. She is drinking too. She is peeing and pooping although her poops are really small. I didn’t hear it yesterday but today I notice her belly her gurgling. You think it’s a combination of a new house and surgery all within 48hrs??? how long before I should worry?

can you give her  a tummy rub may help and yes could be stress from all the different things she been thru in short time. if she stop pooping and peeing and eating then get her to the vet otherwise keep an eye on her and rub her tummy may help her and it settle down some. mayabe someone will come soon who is more knowledgeable

Be REALLY gentle with a tummy rub if she just got spayed. It’s not unusual for a newly altered bunn to be “off” for a day or two after surgery. Eating and drinking is good, keep an eye on the poops. If they continue to get smaller or stop altogether, back to the vet!

Also, when do you hear the gurgling? Is it when she drinks her water? One of my bunnies tummy gurgles whenever she drinks – I think it’s just a combination of the water and a bit of oxygen getting in at the same time. Nothing to worry over. But if it’s not when she drinks, it might be a bit of gas. Do you have any simethicone to give?

Yes, actually stay away from the tummy rub! It is too soon after surgery! She will be much too sore for that.

If her tummy is not gurgling right after she drinks, but is doiing it all the time, then are you saying it’s loud enough to hear without putting your head to her tummy (rabbit’s tummy’s do normally gently gurgle) but if it’s loud, then she could be dealing with gas. What veggies has she been eating?

If her poops are still abnormal, and/or have actually gotten less, please call your vet.

thanks for the advice guys!! No more gurgling sounds so far. She is still eating and drinking. Peeing and pooping at normal level. But her poops seem small. She’s 8 months old and pretty small. It’s been two years since iv’e had a rabbit and iv’e never had one this small. (she’s about 3-4 lbs) So I don’t know if her poops are normally this small or if they should be bigger. I’ll keep monitoring her.

My small Kahlua has very small poopies, like maybe the size of the top of a pen or even smaller…It may just be the norm for your bunny. As long as she’s pooping lots, it should be fine!

Yay! I’m glad to hear her poops are getting normal She probably just had a hard time getting used to so many new things going on. I also have a bunny that “gurgles” when she drinks water, its the funniest noise!
