Well I have to admit, this tent is getting a bit raggedy, so I’ll have to buy another soon. So they already had me sold. ^^
Beka, for now they seem to do well for a few hours in the day, then Mimz gets a little worn by dinnertime, so we still separate them at night. Pip is not shy about letting us know she doesn’t appreciate the separate bedrooms thing, overturning an entire FULL litterbox late last night and waking my daughter with the noise. It’s no fun cleaning up after bunny at two in the A.M. Pip’s litterbox javelin skills are increasing exponentially and I think there surely must be a gold medal in it for her if we can just get the Olympic Commission to see what worthy athletes our dear buns are.
Bunny Olympics…lolz…now wouldn’t that be a scream? I know there’s already jumping shows and the like, but could you just see the little dears in their jogging suits and gymnastic outfits, running the decathlon and vaulting horse?
And just now I had to put Mimz in the xpen again, as Pip was washing the Cuddl-e Cup…my guess is it carries his scent strongly, so she was looking for him. I think she’s a lot happier with him than he particularly is with her at the moment.
Both were washing each other last night though and snuggling in a most touching manner, so the time is not far off that they must bunk together.
I am still looking for a decent sized cage to house the two of them in. Our local store doesn’t carry anything suitable, so I may have to order online…but I’d really rather see something assembled in front of me before I buy it. *sigh*
I briefly placed Pip in with Mimzy in his cage last night, just to see what they would do. Lots of mounting attempts by him and Pip was just trying to sniff around as if to say, “Hey, this isn’t MY house!” I took her out again after a few minutes and they both settled down quite nicely. It’s not an experiment I plan to repeat, because I don’t want to derail the bonding process…but I just had to give it a shot. That cage is too small for them to both live comfortably in anyway.
Any suggestions as to where to look for the honeymoon suite are warmly welcomed! ^^ Also, I need to find one of those after market shelves/ramps for Pip’s pen as hers came without one and she seems to like Mimzy’s. Once again, our local pet store doesn’t carry helpful items like this.
Now the big question…in whose room are the two lovebirds going to live out their happy lives together? I can’t leave them in any main part of the house because I have cats. There is just no feline-proofing that will work with my two…they are stubbornly ingenious when it comes to getting at something they want.
It must also be set up so that my daughter can freely access her bunny and so I don’t have to give up Mimzy. So it’s looking like my bedroom is the only choice…but this is something we have to come to ourselves. My daughter is becoming more aware that the bunnies need to be together to be happy, so she’s not as reticent as she was before, but you can see she loves Pip and doesn’t like to feel as if she’s becoming “Mommy’s bunny,” which of course, she is not.
All these delicate feelings to juggle! *whew!* I am about worn out by now! >_<
