I would like to get a new camera so I can take better pics of my bunns  and I don’t want to spend a whole lotta money, even though for the most part, you get what you pay for……..but I haven’t a clue what is a good camera for a reasonable price.

Currently I have a Kodak EasyShare CX7330 3.1mp, which is verrrrry outdated.  My son got me that camera for Mother’s Day about 4 yrs. ago when it was cheap enough for him to afford, LOL !  It has a video feature on it, which I really love, so I’d like to find a camera that has that same feature.

The new photo gallery that BB just put up prompted me to ask this question because I looked at the pics her and her hubby took and realized there’s no way on God’s green earth that I would ever be able to zoom in like that and have my picture not look distorted……..& I have to say, that really bummed me out because once the weather gets warm enough, I would like for hubby & I to take some walks, too, & who knows ?  Maybe we’ll see that “everything’s comin’ up bunnies” as well

Would love to hear what camera/s you all would suggest & where would be a good place to purchase it :o)

        Thanks a bunn-ch !

My input is to watch for sales; Buy a good name brand like Canon. Most camera’s come with video these days so no need to worry about that. (I need a new camera too so I’m on board with ya!) Higher the zoom the better for zooming (duh!) so I think most camera’s have 5-12x zoom. Also the higher the megapixels the better the quality. 5 is pretty cheap now and good but you could probably even get seven megapixels cheap now too! Don’t pay too much for extra features you won’t use (how many of figure those silly things out!?! )

          Good luck!

Oh yeah, and don’t pay retail. Talk them down or if they won’t budge, make them throw in an extra memory stick and a camera bag!

I’m a fan of Sony Cybershot models. You can get a bunch of different models for relatively cheap and they’re super easy to operate and the pictures are crisp.

You might want to check out the latest version of Kodak Easy Share. I have one that’s only about a year old, and I really like it. They are keeping up with the competition, so you can shop around for a newer model with higher zoom etc. They are still on the low end of prices, but make a good camera.

The top line of single lens reflex digital cameras with zooms that might be detachable are by Cannon or Nikon. But those are about $500 more to start. Kodak, Cannon, Nikon, Olympus have pretty much been in the camera business, and transitioned successfully to digital, for a long time now. Check out Consumer Report’s November 2007 issue (I’m sure your public library has it) for a detailed comparison of cameras with different capabilities in different price ranges.

I have a Nikon Coolpix that I use for lots and lots of bunny pictures (I take almost all of the photos for the Rabbit Haven website).  I have an older model, but it is still holding up.  Some of the newer models have much larger LCD displays than mine, which makes reviewing pics much easier.

also for electronics it is almost ALWAYS better to buy online and especially online not from a big chain store. a lot of places will have free shipping if you are spending over a certain amount and even with shipping is usually cheaper. to find the best price look up the model on something like shopzilla.com. also google the model name and “coupon” and you can often find great deals that way. my boyfriend is an electronics geek and always find really great prices

WOW !  Thanks for all the great suggestions !

I’ve always liked the Canon Cybershot’s and the Nikon’s……but I guess it’s all in what you want to use them for, so I have a lot of comparing to do.

This little Kodak EasyShare I have has given me some excellent photos, but now that I’ve seen what others can do, I feel like I want to upgrade so I can get better shots.  I’ve had to delete I don’t know how many pics that would’ve been such an excellent shot, just because it came out too blurry……definitely can’t do much in the way of close-ups, even though this has a “zoom” on it.  It just doesn’t get close enough sometimes, making the pic so blurry you can’t even tell what I was trying to take a picture of………so definitely time to get a new one ;o)

                        Thanks so much everyone :o))

                          Tami,
Does your current EasyShare have a “Sports” setting? Mine does, and I discovered I had much better shots due to less blur when I used it. It doesn’t help bring in the zoom, but if it works for you, you could try enlarging on your computer and cropping in closely. It just means a faster speed. Temporary coping I know.
