You have to be mindful of your own abilities first. Taking on more buns without the ability to do so will just hurt them and your own.

Stuff like this makes me want to throw stuff in people’s faces. I’d have your friend go back to her and say, “Sorry, I guess you’re going to have to turn them over to a shelter to have them kill a couple of God’s creatures in the name of your photographs.”

Oh, and make sure she knows that if she sets them ‘free’ that it will be a much crueler fate than the shelter.

I know my answers don’t help the buns. Working with a shelter, you learn that you can’t save all the darlings. I’m sorry.

That makes me so mad. Why are bunnies considered so much more disposable than other pets? Here’s a life lesson they should teach in school: RESPONSABILITY! God, people are stupid.

That is so not cool! We church people have a bad enough reputation as it is and now this ridiculous woman!
So gravehearted…when you said you wanted to throw something in her face did you mean….. say…. a litterbox that is in a dire need of changing?

My favored strategy when I find people mistreating animals like this is to explain in graphic detail what, exactly, it will do to the animal. I’m a huge cat person, and whenever I heard of someone wanting to declaw a cat, I would explain slowly and precisely how the surgery went, how it would effect the animal afterwards and (the key) what it would be comparable to if you did it to a human. Loads of people just don’t get it if you say you’re hurting an animal, but if you put into terms of “here’s what you’re doing to the animal, AND here’s what it would be like if you replace human with animal.”

‘Course, I’m pretty confrontational and generally don’t suffer fools, soo….

that is incredibly frustrating.  i’ve always been aware of the Easter Bunny epidemic, but since this is my first “Easter Season” on this board, it’s really hitting me in the face with every thread related to irresponsible or impulsive  pet ownership.  i guess we can expect it a lot more over the next few months and into the summer.

i agree with Markusdark tho… you need to do what is right for you and your family.  having them euthanized humanely is better than allowing them to get dumped or go to someone inexperienced (and unwilling to learn) where those two might become 200 buns…  i’m sure they’re babies and not sexed properly.

Easter was less than a week ago! Talk about not giving something a chance.

i would tell her what happens to people who are cruel to animals, they get prosecuted and will be banned from keeping animals forever, thats what happens here anyway!
