        Peppers (green, red or yellow?)

        Sunflower seeds?

        mushrooms?

any kind of orange or is it only specific ones?

        spring onions?

and also hopscotch is terrified of the hoover, i mean like he will run to a corner and shake until it goes away and then he spends the next 2 or so hours scared of everyone moving, obviously i dont hoover near him now i have started putting him in one room then hoovering another then switching etc. but he is still really jumpy.. is there anything i can do or should i just accept that he isnt going to like it?

Also – omg – i decided to try the bunny in my bedroom for just one night to see how we got on because i would have hopscotch close to me and i dont reallly like being away from him with no-one there (i know im such a baby!) anyway he was sooo good i couldnt believe it, i didnt hear him once (i sleep like a log everynight but my bf is a really light sleeper – i know because i get kicked at least once a night to stop snoring lol) and even he didnt hear a peep out of him i was so pleased its unreal so now (after another 3 nights and still not a peak) he is staying in our room forever! also it means me finding an apartment will be easier because i dont have to look for one which has loads of seperate rooms yay! – sorry just thought id share lol

        Thanks guys!

I know for sure all kinds of peppers are ok, and mine have had all three colors. They don’t seem to have a preference for any particular color but will eat them all. Mushrooms are not OK from what I’ve read, and I believe all oranges are OK; I’ve given the regular kind and mandarins. I’ve read on the house rabbit site that even the peel is OK. A breeder suggested to me that I give Kokanee black sunflower seeds to put weight on her… She’s done it before so I supposed they are OK too.

If he’s that terrified of the hoover, I would assume he’s quite upset. You could try little therapy sessions. I would start like this. Have him in a room with you, and the hoover. Turn it on quick and off quick. Give him a treat, tell him he’s good, let him out. Do that as much as you can/are able and increase the amount of time you leave it on as he tolerates it. That should get him to know that nothing bad is going to happen, in fact he gets a treat when it’s on. Funnily my Rupert is also terrified of the vaccum, but not bothered by it at all if he’s in his cage with the door closed. If it’s open or he’s loose, it’s very scary hehe.

I’m sooo jealous he’s sleeping in your room!! I’m working on Dave that Rupert can sleep in our room at night (Rupert cuz Dave likes him the best and he’s pretty non-destructive) but so far not so good. I’ll keep trying

Great!  So yours must SLEEP at night.  I swear Edson is up all night because he sleeps most of the day.

From what I know, peppers and oranges (including peel) are okay for bunnies. But mushrooms, onions, and any kind of seeds are not okay.

                thanks for all your answers!
i have had nightmare experiences with animals in my bedroom before first was a hamster who made such a racket i just couldnt keep him in there anymore, then my gerbils who i was told by a ‘pet experet’ in petsathome that they wouldnt make a noise at night.. of course they dig all night long because thats there instinct and they are just as bad if not worse as the hamster was! so i wasnt expecting things to go well with my bun but i have yet to hear a peep out of him im sooo pleased!

Peppers are OK, definately not sunflower seeds or ANY type of onion.  The flesh of an orange is O.K. as a treat but the peel is NOT O.K.

I know there was a discussion somewhere around here about someone passing out incorrect and misleading information on another forum that mentions these very things along with no lettuce.  I hope that you were not one of the unknowing victims of this ill-advised rabbit person.

I gave some pepper yesturday for dinner, and he was much more interested in the red pepper than the green one, but he seemed to like it

K&D that is wonderful to hear, we are all bunny slaves and I too drive far to get the bunny pellets and even litter for my two. You are definately not alone there.  You are funny, LOL not get anything done….well I can completely relate!   Interesting about the red pepper, they are sweeter and are high in vitamin C too!
