Well I don’t know does she not like her name or what I just DON’T get it ( Her name is Easter…lol).

hmm it may be the hormones…spaying should help that….

It is probably the hormones. She could be having her cycle right now and is very grumpy right now. Plus dwarfs love to push us humans around.

how long have you had her?  sometimes as rabbits settle into their new homes they will begin to act like they own the place, and then of course the hormones are beginning to kick in as well.  have you found a vet for her yet?  she will need to be spayed at about 5-7 months.

I don’t think she hates you or has a grudge against you – I’m sure she doesn’t realize she is hurting you that is just how she communicates and she is still a baby.

You will just have to be loud when you say “no” to startle her and when she is behaving good you could praise her by petting her or giving her a little treat.

Your vet probably doesn’t want to spay her yet because she is so small.

Sometimes it can be frustrating to figure out what these little creatures want.

I know my dwarf, Jessica, gets very “sensitive” around Easter.  She doesn’t appreciate any of the Easter jokes, comments about being a dark chocolate bunny, or the Easter Bunny’s evil spawn.  She bit me so hard last Easter I had to get 2 stiches!  W/ that said….spaying her fixed her biting issues.  Now she only gets “nippy” when she gets craisin crazy!

The key that helped me prior to her spay…was putting my hand on her head and gently pushing down while saying “NO”.  I also had to be very confident when entering her cage.  I couldn’t show any kind of fear or tentative behavior what so ever.  I hope that helps.

I would try placing your hand gently on her head and pressing down when she comes towards you aggressively. This will help reinforce the pecking order as it sounds like she has ousted you as the top bunny and hormones are playing a role as well.

yes she probably just needs some firm attention to prove you are the leader!

yes – it sure sounds like hormones kicking in. it’s hard not to take it personally, but bunnies become highly territorial as their hormones are in full swing. Spaying will make a big difference. And it’s true with dwarves, they sometimes recommend waiting a bit later to spay.

I think Scarlet Rose’s idea is a good one for the meantime. You may be able to come up with a routine to pet her firmly on the head as you feed her to develop the sense that you’re dominate. If she starts to charge you when you’re changing her house – you may need to pick her up and put her in her carrier or a bathroom while you change her.
