Hey Lisa … I see the resemblence … I think I want to come around and hijack your cuties and bring them home with me LOL.
Dawn xx
omg so cute! doesnt it suck being in england though? lol
you have a lovely set up indeed i am very much looking forward to having my own bunny room! did you make any of that stuff or did you buy it?
Thanks guys!
A lot of questions to answer…..
Kimberley…..It really does suck being in England!!!! although at least we don’t have to worry about ‘as many’ predators in our garden, got to be a bonus! The wood looking room is actually part of my summerhouse that had just been insulated and boarded out. It’s changed since then and set up is slightly different. I was hoping that they could be bonded again and have the whole place to run around but Milly (white bun) is just too territorial and aggressive so has to be kept in a pen.
All of the stuff in pics is bought I’m afraid!! the wooden fiddle sticks you can get from most pet shops and they bend into bridges, the buns like to sit on top of them and chew them!
They have a little wooden playhouse in the garden too that they can go into for shade if they are out playing.
Mimzmum…..that’s Thumper!!! an absolute treasure and failed foster bun 🙂 I just couldn’t let him go and so he ended up staying here with me for good. He lives with my lionhead buck Teddy and they are best friends. His previous owners seemed like nice people but they said he wasn’t a snuggle bun which is what they wanted!! can’t understand that because he loves cuddles. To be fair to them they did call me regularly after giving him up and their 15 yr old son was very upset about it.
Lisa…. I just love your babies, I think it is because they do remind me of George and he is one of the best rabbits I have ever owned, i have a huge soft spot for him and he lives in the house with me 🙂
Bunnytowne…those runs do have covers on 🙂 Milly can just 5 foot! My dark lionhead (Phoebe is even more fluffier than that now, you can’t see her face so I had to give her a little hair cut the other day.
xx
What a nice setup you have for your buns. I would love to have my buns outside in the nice weather but their is the fear of fleas and stray cats.
I love your black lion head. He is absolutely precious!
That’s Phoebe!! She is such a character and one of the most people friendly rabbits I have ever met. She will go up to anyone and just thrives on human attention. I’m hoping to bond her with my two house buns so she can move inside permanently. At the moment she comes in during the day and goes back to her condo in the summerhouse on a night. My rabbits LOVE being in the garden. We don’t have much of a problem with stray cats. We have a cat ourself who is very good with the rabbits and there is one neighbourhood cat that comes by and is fine with the bunnies. I work from home and generally keep an eye on them so I don’t have to worry. I wouldn’t let them out if I wasn’t around. My sister has four bunnies and some nasty neighbourhood cats so they aren’t allowed to free roam in the garden. i’m sure the cat would get more of a fright from the buns but it isn’t worth taking the risk. I had a rabbit when I was small that used to chase all cats out of our garden. He even managed to get out into the front street and chased this poor cat back to it’s own home..then hopped back home of his own accord. My old rabbi Charlie had a problem with dogs. Luckily my mums dogs are very docile and tolerated her but she literally used to throw herself off them aggressively (she had no teeth thankfully).
Thumper is adorable! ^^ I can understand why you couldn’t part with him, what a handsome devil!
Fiddle Sticks, huh? *giggles* Now that is a cute and catchy name! I’ll just bet they aren’t available here in the U.S. though.
I have a pen (just bought a second one to expand with) that is used for babies/small children that I exercise my buns in the kitchen with. My loppy won’t stretch to the top, which is probably three or more feet high, but my daughter’s half-lionhead is constantly gauging the distance. You can just see the wheels turning planning the big breakout! ^^;
I am a softie for the one that’s peeking out of the box and looks like Lisa’s ADORABLE litter.
What are the names of your gang members? I don’t see them.
Mimzmum….yes he is a cutie, and quite a big bun too. Fiddle sticks (yes it is a strange name!!) are made by super pets and you can buy them in America…amazon have them as well as lots of other mail order sites!! just google ‘rabbits fiddle sticks’ he he
milly is always weighing up our gates to see if she can get over. Strangely enough I find that if she comes up against a wall, even 8 foot high she will attempt to scale it…if I have a fence that is meshed so she can see directly through to the other side she generally won’t try and jump it. who knows….maybe it’s the thought of the unknown that entices her to jump over walls!
Rabbitpam….
that’s George all grown up…..such a funny little man.
Ok names are….
George….white and broken agouti…came from neglected home where his mum was repeatedly bred until she was too worn out to cope.
Maisy….not in pics but is a blue lionhead x….was being bred for snake food.
Teddy is a harleguin/tortoise shell lionhead…came from an allotment with six other stunning lionheads that had just been kept in horrid conditions with very little food and no water for the first year of his life.
Thumper…chinchilla lop of some sort…too small to be of continental origin but definitely european of some sort….came from a family who no longer wanted him…turns out he has major dental issues as a result of poor breeding, his molars are literally crumbling away and he is only around 2 – 2 1/2
Milly….Cashmere/lionhead x……result of backyard breeders who kept her and four other sibling in ONE indoor cage until they were six months old. her owner was an alcoholic who just didn’t know how to care for them and they were reported to the authorities. poor milly had been attacked by her siblings and literally torn open down both of her thighs. She has real mental issues.
last but not least is…
Phoebe…again a result of a breeder and not fitting ‘the standard’. She is a black otter but fails to have the eye markings….i think she is soooooo beautiful though!!
🙂
You are a wonderful angel to your gang. What awful beginnings! They are so lucky you found them. Thanks for the list and the histories. ![]()
ooo my those are some cute bunnies! you have such a big heart to let so many lovely bunnies into your heart and home.
yes charlie the lack of predators is a bonus, but as hopscotch is indoors all the time its not something ive had to worry about! no-one seems to understand bunnys here! its like i would feel so stupid taking my bun to the park for a walk lol and i go into a pet store (a big one which i drove like 90mins there and 90 back just to get to) and was like do u have any papaya tablets or know where i can get any? and they were like ^o| lookin at me like i was mental, hadnt even heard of them lol the only shop that does pellets and not that crap with the bits in it takes me an hour to get to and i live in birmingham! second biggest town in the uk after london and still i have to go an hour to get rabbit pellets!! *cries*
lol damn it just sucks! i have been thinking about getting my bun one of those wooden table looking things they are only like £5 and i was thinking of putting it in his hutch to make it a two storey affair! may get one today actually
oHH they are alll so beautiful! Lucky that they have you now, and such an awesome set up too!! ![]()
