I should really know myself better. I jumped in on a thread about grooming, stating that I hadn’t been through a molt yet (besides Kahlua shedding out) even though Kokanee was about a year and half old…Well duh, now she’s molting!! I practically begged for that to happen by saying it had never happened LOL

So the first fur loss was during her poopy bum…I’d thought she’d pulled some fur out because the fur loss occured on the base of her tail and the very bottom of her bum and I figured it had something to do with her poopy bum. It got me really worried. Well now her whole bum is practically bare as it started molting big time (to make up for missing some previous molt times?) . The part that went bare earlier is coming in a very dark grey…I wonder what this new part that’s molting is going to come in…For those who don’t know, she’s the orange-y dutch girl in my avatar….So now that her bum is growing in grey… :s LOL she is going to look goofy!! I’ll snap a pic tonight so you guys can see what I”m talking about…I’m super interested to see what it’s going to look like when she’s through!!

Oh Ok, here’s a picture of her !

LOLZ…it’s the EEEKK! bunny! ^^ (for some reason I thought that was Rupert?)
No wonder she looks so freaked out when you snap a picture…she doesn’t want the flashy box to catch her bare bum! ^^

Bindi is totally molting too. He looks so funny. His hair on his face is all uneven and disheveled. I’ll try to snap a pic tommorow so you can see. I laugh when I look at him. He’s still super handsome though

It’s insane how much work molting is! I spend like 1/2 hour a night grooming him.

Mine already went through a heavy molt about 2 weeks ago. But I’m sure that they heard me say that and I’m going to pay for it….

ugg – my response got eaten

Kimberly – most bunnies start molting at around 6 months and it’s common for them to molt 4 times a year. they alternate light and heavy molts – it’s brought on by the change in temp and sometimes stress or diet changes.

lol… what a cute pic.  looks like you caught her mid-yoink with that parsley

both my girls are molting now… baby more than pinky.  i remember a molt or 2 that went faster than i could deal with… i’d walk into baby’s room and it looked like she had gone *poof* there was so much hair scattered around her.  lol.

Truffles is now molting some too. worst timing ever since while he usually gobbles up lots of hay, he has been a little off it post neuter. argh. found some strands of poops, scared me half to death, but now he’s pooping up a storm so hopefully he’ll be ok.

also- I have tried that tip posted on the other molting thread about using a damp towel to get the loose hair off and it works pretty well

Mine are molting. Bailey sheds in big pockets too leaving little bald spots that quickly grow back, while the other two just shed evenly throughout.
