Hi guys…
I know I don’t often post on here but I just wanted to let everyone know that my baby girl Honey passed away recently, she wasn’t even 1 yet 🙁
She got myxomatosis and they couldn’t save her. They said that if I let it go on she would have suffered one of the most terrible deaths possible so I decided for them to put her to sleep and out of her mysery.
I just want everyone to know that even though I am in Australia and the most of you are not, it is still possible. Keep your babies safe and away from mozzies or other rabbits as much as possible. I wouldn’t want you to have to loose your babies too 🙁
RIP HONEY BUNNY….
I am so sorry to hear about Honey Alibear.
My deepest sympathy and condolences, it is a terrible thing to go through and a very tough decision to make and thank you for your warning about myxomatosis.
As always, I am sorry for your loss. I just lost a young bun close to me but I didn’t have to make such a tough decision.
My condolences – I will light a candle for Honeybear to cross the Rainbow Bridge.
Binky free, Honey. Myxi is a horrible disease, you made the right decision in not letter her suffer. There were a few cases reported quite near us in Sonoma California a few months ago, it is here in the states too. Please accept my deepest sympathies, it is hard to lose them when they are so young.
I am sooo sorry for the loss of your bunny.
She was so beautiful… I’m so sorry she passed so young. I hope she has a quick and easy journey to the other side, and I know that everyone else’s past bunnies will be there to keep her company until the day you can see her again.
((((((healing vibes))))))
My heartfelt prayers go out to you and your bun, I am so sorry to hear that she has passed. But she is in a land of beauty and peace now, please take solace in that.
(((((((((((Honey and Alibear))))))))))))))
I am so sorry to hear about Honey, Alibear. Sending you lots of healing wishes during such a very sad time.
I am saddened to hear that Honey has passed away and at such an early age ….
Big hugs to you Sweetie …. but you did the right and humane thing.
I’ll light a special candle for your Honey tonight.
Dawn xx

i’m sorry… she was beautiful. that really is a horrible disease.
((((((((((((Honeybear!))))))))))))
(((((((((((((*Hugs* for Alibear!)))))))))))))
Myxi is Myxomatosis, a terrible viral disease in rabbits that is transmitted by mosquitoes. It is almost always fatal.
I’m sooo sorry for your loss *HUGS*
Binky Free Honey

I’m so sorry for your loss.I think the decision you made was the better one. Now she is in a wonderful place with bunny friends and has no illness or pain. She’ll wait for you at the rainbow bridge! She IS so beautiful. I say IS because she is not gone forever. Think of it as a vacation for her.
((((((((Hugs))))))))

so sorry for your lose, especially so young (((vibes))) dont worry they can binky free now ![]()
awe so sad she was so beautiful. it will get better for you it is hard to do I had to do that too recently make that decision. I felt so guilty at first. but i know he is in no pain now poor darling. your darling will be find running in beautiful meadows on the other side with buns for company all in good health and no pain. what a horrible disease and a horrible thing that was introduced into the wild rabbits. that is disgusting people did that to them. we have to be so careful now.
I am so sorry for your loss, Mixi is something that all Australians worry about as the stupid Government won’t introduce a vaccine for it. grrrrrrrrrrr
I also will light a candle for Honey.
Thank you everyone for all your kind words….
It happened so quickly. She was perfectly fine in the morning and when I got home that night she was almost gone. Her fur had come away from around her eyes, her head was all swollen and her chest all puffy, but she was still moving around ok ?!?!
I hope she is in a better place now, my poor baby.
Thanks again everyone.
Alibear, what can I say that has not been said already. It was a loving act and she is now at peace. And yes she is in a better place, no pain or fear.
((((( Big Hug )))))
Ali
Please hang around on the Board here (always nice to have another Aussie girl) …
Maybe in time you will be able to have another bunny.
Was Honey outside in a hutch? I am interested to know how Honey got myxi.
Dawn xx
Honey was in a hutch on an enclosed balcony, but we do have wild rabbits on our property and the most likely way she got it was from the dogs carrying a flea from the rabbits on the property and because they were near her they jumped from them to her and well….
Ok Ali … Thanks for letting me know.
Sorry again for baby bunny Honey.
Dawn xx
(((((Honey)))))
What a terrible disease. It’s naturally occurring in Europe I believe but was artificially introduced in Australia, and sadly the vaccine is illegal there out of a scientifically inaccurate fear that somehow the vaccine would spread to the wild population. You can write your local government and start petitions. Maybe some day things can be better for rabbits there.
So, so sorry to hear about Honey.
((((((Alibear)))))))
HUGS!!! So sorry to hear. You can turn this into a positive by spreading the word to help save other bunnies. Honey is in a better place now.
My deep sympathies to you. Your bunny was beautiful.
I believe that we will all be with our babies again someday.
I’m so sorry to hear about Honey Bear words can never be enough to help you thru the loss of a preicous furry child. She was so cute Me and Ziggy and Zelda are sending you big hugs.
I’m so sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful little bunny. I really hope that others can learn from your tragedy. Lots of bunny kisses to you from Leo & Jessica.
I am so sorry for your loss. Pets mean so much to us. My daughter lost her first little girl this past week too. Her little one was a two month old guinea pig that she had only had for two weeks. It broke her heart. I know you will carry Honey in your heart for always. Hugs to you. Tammy
