I am not sure if this is where to post this but I am so excited about the bunny bungalow that my daughters made for Mango. I will try to post a picture tomorrow after work. We used the idea of an overturned tote as a hours from the housing section of this site. We took an 18 gallon tote and cut a rounded door on the side for Mango. She is a timid bunny. We rescued her from a horrible situation. She was attacked by the other bunnies in a pet store and had bites all over her back. They became abscesses and she needed emergency surgery. The shelter who took her in did a wonderful job helping to get her into good health. All her wounds are healed now and her fur is almost grown in. She likes to hide, however, when things are loud (I have 5 kids and lots of pets and it can be hectic at times)
We decided that she needed a place of her own and the tote seemed perfect. She was a bit cramped in the home we made out of a recycled paper box. The girls attached the top of the box on as a sort of overhang and then decorated the WHOLE tote as a house – complete with windows, flower boxes and a sign that says BUNNY BUNGALOW – bunnies only! No dogs ALLOWED!!! Mango loves her own space. She spends time rearranging the blankets and getting very comfortable. Since adding the bungalow yesterday she has begun to venture further into the house. I think she knows that if things get to busy she can run to her private space for some R&R.
Thanks for reading and listening to me rave about my daughters’ artistic abilities!!!
