I’m no expert on this by any means but I have heard that remots buttons are a favorite bunny snack. . . As long as he is still eating and pooping, I would say he should be ok. . . . Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Oh yeah, and did you look around the area? Are you sure he ate the remote buttons? I know Henri likes to shred and generally tear up things sometimes, but he normally doesn’t eat them.

Don’t worry, it quite understandable that you are worried. How long ago did he eat the buttons? About an hour ago I would say from your post. . . Has he been eating and pooping at all since then?

FYI I’m logged into the chat feature for just such panic situations. : ) Or just for shooting the breeze. Keep an eye on your min-lop, give lots of hay to keep things moving and watch for a blockage. Chances are it will just pass though. While chocolate is not good for rabbits, a small morsel should be OK.

Although not really good for them, if I am not mistaken chocolate isn’t as poisonous to them as it is to dogs.

Oh it should be ok … my Luey ate my remote buttons and he is still being a shoot running around LOL. Small amounts of anything should be ok.

dont worry we all panic when are bunnies are at risk i am glad all is well now!

i understand bunny fright.  trust me, i just experienced some yesterday…

keep an eye on him.  work on making him more secure in his cage.  i’d also suggest doing a good clean-up of the area each night.  every night before bed i make sure everything is picked up and out of reach just in case she gets out of her enclosure.

My Buster would eat any thing that was left out.  I was eating choc pie and was not  watching her she grab the fork and took off and had choc all over her face. And she was also was a remote eater. She was fine.

phew!  sorry you had such a scare.  i completely freak out in those situations too, so i can sympathize.  once my dog ate 2 pieces of chicken (i was saving for the next day) AND the bones of the 2 pieces i just ate.  i was so upset & mad at myself.  i always always have my dog follow me if i have to leave a room with food set out and this time was no different but he snuck back in & inhaled the chicken in less than 30 secs.  literally.  i called the emerg vet line & they had me feed him small amounts of food every few hours to pack around the bones & help them pass through his system.  of course he was completely fine and had no troubles from the incident.  so not only did he get to scarf down my lunch but he also got fed an extra helping of dog food too!

My old rabbit Charlie would literally eat ANYTHING. She had been known to even try and eat tuna and chicken….once I was sitting with a bowl of pea and ham soup on my lap, didn’t see her at my feet and before I knew it she just leapt up and actually landed in the bowl of soup. She was a prolific remote control eater.

George will also eat absolutely anything given the chance. I can’t eat human food around him because he literally tries to take it out of my mouth. He is also known for eating pencil crayons if he can get hold of them..they turn his droppings different colours! obviously I don’t just allow him to eat them but bot did I get a shock when I saw a pile of bright blue and green poops!

Our childhood dog….Scottish Terrier named Bonnie….ate & gnawed on everything.  W/ six kids there was a lot laying around.  My barbie dolls had chewed up & missing limbs, I actually added amputation as one of my regular story lines for my dolls.  She too ate crayons.  It did make her poops everymore festive and colorful.  I’m grateful that Leo prefers to chew and destroy and NOT eat.   He will tear things apart, but that’s about it. 

I’m thinking we need to start a paranoid about bunny health support group.  I too panic over the slightest bunny things.  I learned my lesson after Leo lost major weight due to teeth pain.  I had no idea it was that bad or that his teeth were bothering him.  It wasn’t until the hubby said that he felt Leo was a bit scrawny and his eye was all teary.  I’ve been super paranoid ever since.  Especially when we read the terrible stories about bunnies not making it through the night.  I think b/c we care so much about our buns, we wouldn’t want our “negligence” to be their downfall!  I think that’s what makes this such a scary issue.  Our pets rely on us for everything and the thought that we might fail them is just awful.  Just a thought and a little psych analysis (for free).

Oye, our neighbors have a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy who has a thing for cloth.  He has eaten several socks and face towels, and has required two emergency abdominal surgeries to remove them!

Oh puffy you had my heart a pounding!!! Umn, I’d say remote buttons are no cause for concern…I’ll see if I can get a picture up of a few of our remotes LOL!! I’m so glad he’s OK though!!! *hug*

For what it’s worth, a baby gate across the door to the room in which the bunnies’ cage/enclosure is located will keep them isolated there in case they stage a jail-break. Assuming, of course, that your room’s arrangements allow for that. You’ll want that particular room bunny-proofed.

We’ve had this issue with Aeryn, who can with great difficulty make it over the enclosure. Normally she won’t bother, but if they’re cooped up for a long time (e.g., we’re out of town and our professional home/pet sitter is taking care of them) she’ll make a run for it. She’s only done it a couple of times, but it’s pretty nerve-wracking!

Aeryn is also prone to wander all over the house if given half a chance (e.g., her favorite forbidden place these days is behind the washer and dryer in the utility room so we’ve had to baby-gate the entrance to the basement stairs when the bunnies are out). Like many other bunnies in this thread, she will eat anything and everything. This includes the cat’s dry food, which of course we strongly discourage. Yeesh!
