Ok I am totally fed up now. Having really bad luck recently, was feeling really depressed about it all, went home to see my Mum took frosty with me. He has eaten two whole carrots a nibble stick with seeds and hay, seems ok, but hasn’t pooed or drank much really. I’ve seen him eat his soft pellets – gross I know but just glad he’s doing them. Do I now have to go all the way back home to the vet? Is he ill? should you be worried if not eating AND not pooing. Or is not eating more serious?? He has done about 4 normal little pellets since yesterday, but eating quite well. What goes in must come out right??

i’m really sorry to hear you’ve not been doing well.  unfortunately, that’s the way life goes.  hopefully things will start to look up for you…

so he ate two whole carrots and a nibble stick with the seeds and stuff?  well, i’m not sure if you know this but the nibble sticks are really bad for rabbits.  even tho they’re sold as treats specifically for them, they are not healthy.  natural treats are much better.  as far as the carrots, the most they are supposed to have is a tiny sliver for an occasional treat.

if he’s not pooping, eating or drinking he needs to get to a vet.  actually, if even one is missing from the equation he needs to see the vet.  not pooping is very serious and can go bad fast.

It is possible that he’s just upset about the move and isn’t pooping in the ‘new place’ because of it. Maryann didn’t poop for 2 days when I first got her. However, I’d still go to the vets since these guys are so delicate.

BunnyLugs, do you have an update for us? I hope all is well. You might want to try some greens as opposed to so many carrots. A carrot stick (mini-one) is like a candy bar for an adult. They have lots of natural sugar in them and can cause the GI tract to imbalance.

Sorry for the long reply. He was fine! Took him straight to the vet. She gave him three injections. Painkiller, gut stimulant and antibiotics? He went to the toilet as soon as I got him home, poor thing. My friend, a fellow animal lover thinks he may have picked up on the fact I felt miserable and had “sympathy pains” Perhaps we’ll never know!!

Well glad to hear everything is back to “normal” bunnies really do pick up on how we are feeling and can sometimes scare us like that. So sorry you had to go to the vet and go through all that, but the best thing about it is that Frosty is well.

i wonder why animals do that? if a rabbit were in the wild surely it wouldnt act sick if one of its fellow bunnies were because it would be targeted and eaten hmm….
