Well after feeling like I’ve hit  a major wall with bonding Chance and Andre and wanting nothing to do with it, I observed something last night that gave my boyfriend and I an idea of something new to try.  Last night both buns came out for about 20 minutes each while I cleaned their cages and did some major running.  When they got back in their cages all they wanted to do was flop and to my surprise they flopped next to each other in their seperate cages.

So I think tonight I’m going to let them run again on their own and then try putting them together and seeing what happens.  Perhaps eventually they’ll flop together outside their cages.  Plus I’m going to combine it with banana on the head to see if I can encourage some grooming.

That definitely sounds positive. Maybe if YOU don’t stress about it they will eventually become buddies. Good luck!

Let us know if it works – it does sound promising.

Thats a good idea – wear them out and THEN put them together Hopefully they go straight to the flops! My boyfriend has done quite a lot of bonding, and I think what he does, that generally I don’t do when bonding rabbits, is he does let them have little spats, or mount each other and doesn’t really interfere until things turn into a “spiral” fight. Even then, he breaks up the spiral but doesn’t separate them. I think that generally, I, and those of us that feel more mom’ish, tend to separate the buns as soon as their is a bit of tension just because we really hate to see either upset, but I think that sometimes doesn’t give the bunnies time to work out the dominance issues.
