I’m just cracking up at all the similarities between our bunnies and I thought, what do they do that’s really unique?!

Kokanee *RUNS* up to the fridge and begs when she hears it open. Rupert hides his face when he’s scared (can’t see his big fat bum-right )…Kahlua prefers to share food (ie. take it out of Kokanee’s mouth) rather then out of the bowl (luckily Kokanee is so gentle with her!!)

What does your bunny do that is neat or unique? They are too funny

Whereas Maryann will turn her nose up at a treat if she feels I’ve slighted her, Dono will come running for a treat, even if it means sitting next to ‘the big meanie’.  In fact, if the world was ending around him, if I whistled for a treat, he’d hop over satan himself to get it.

Maryann is a neat freak.  Besides the fact that she has NEVER left a BB outside of her litter box/cage, she puts her toys away when she’s done playing with them.  I once found a cat jingly ball stuffed inside of an empty tissue roll that was then stuffed inside of a Quaker Oats tube and THAT was pushed up neatly in the corner of the room.

I don’t know how unique this is- but Cotton loves her Oxbow papaya tablets so much that if she can smell it and does not see it right away, or can smell them before the jar is open she is absolutely FRANTIC.

I will have to take a video one of these days- she is so animated while looking for the tablet!

              I don’t know all of thier quarks yet . . .

Kay keeps putting one of her toys in the middle of thier dinner salad.   That has to mean something!

They are not really playing with thier toys yet. But, Kay does keeps all of the toys in one spot – If I move one, she will put it right back where it was.

The only wacky thing I have seen Winston do so far is to Peer over any barriers between rooms (So I can intorduce them to one room at a time) to see what is in there and if it would be worth trying to sneek in.

I think my avatar illustrates her most unique trait. She sometimes takes a mouthful of hay and just packs it around.

Cooper my 5lb Lop and Pookie my 2.5lb dwarf are bonded. We have a sliding glass door in our dining room that can be seen from the living room. If something catches their attention outside Cooper will run and leave Pookie to fend for herself!  And he will keep Pookie between him and the door for awhile just in case. What a man! lol

And, when they get treats at night Cooper will put his head under Pookies tummy and flip her out of the way to get her treats.

I am thinking they are a freind match and not a love match-cause he definitely doesnt put her first! lol

when mr. man was stil with me our favorite thing to do was folding the clothes. He would always jump up on the bed when he knew i just brought in laundry to fold ….i always had to give Him his towel to push and pull on or he would un-fold all the underwear.

lol… some cute lil quirks here!

when i smooch baby bun on the side of her face she will always start opening & closing her mouth like she’s munching phantom hay.  so far i think the funniest thing about pinky is her tendancy to thump loudly right before she throws a binky.  it’s like she’s sayin’ “hot damn!  i’m a gonna binky!” lol

Monty is a growly-pants. n___n He honks and snorts when you touch him when you don’t want to, he honks and snorts when you stop petting him, he honks and snorts when you give him food too slowly… >___< He also hunches himself up like a vulture on top of his pigloo to glare at Humphrey. ^^;; He looks like he wants to eat him.

Humphrey does a number of sort of strange things, but two of the funniest are that he hates messy and/or wrinkled surfaces (he freaks out and tries to flatten them out– it’s hysterical.) He also binkies on and off things– rather than just hopping normally, sometimes he’ll make these crazy flying sideways leaps and land just barely on the edge of furniture, and then give me this self-satisfied look like “I made it. Bet you couldn’t do that.” XD

Mimzy has ALWAYS gone ga-ga over his treats…doesn’t matter what they are, but the papaya has been his favorite (and those darn Yogies before I realized how bad they were!). He’ll climb up and down the side of his habitat to get them once he hears them rattling around or if I’ve just groomed him, and then it’s “Okay mom, I was a good bun, now GIMME!”

He also used to like his toys just so…if I would move a tube he would shove it back where he had it. Originally it started with his feeding dish. I’d put it to the left, he shove it over to the right. I’d move it back, he’d insist it went the other way. A tussle would ensue, with him grabbing the bowl in his teeth and trying to wrestle it away from me. (Needless to say, I’d give up first.)
His most recent trick was telling me just how displeased he was with the dog being in the house; the litterbox became the discus throw and occasionally, he would just thump to tell me he’d had enough of stinky puppy!

My daughter jut reminded me that Mimzy used to do bunny aerobics…kind of like Winnie the Pooh, you know? “When I up, down, touch the ground, puts me in the mood…up down touch the ground, in the mood…*smacks lips* for FOOD!” And sometimes he would stick his head up through the empty hole in his shelf where the pellet dish goes, kind of like the gopher in “Caddyshack.” ^^

I love the laundry story, Tracy, that is just precious!

I guess my favorite thing that Mimzy does is to perch on his shelf and watch me while I sleep. I wake up to find him staring at me, it’s funny! XD

Brian goes frantic at the scrunching packet of their odour treats, and my god if he hears the shaking box of the wildberry milky treats… i get them out the fridge and as soon as i’ve got to the bedroom door Brian is there, watching and waiting. Bettie is always second in line for treats, and rather than waiting nicely she would have it from Brian’s mouth if she got the chance. Brian also knows EXACTLY what he wants. He sat expectantly sniffing at his food bowl yesterday, so i offered him some dandelion stick treaty roll which he usually loves. OH NO, he sniffed at it, turned his nose up and looked up at me with his, “WHAT THE HELL DO YOU CALL THIS!?” face, and stayed looking at me until i put som fresh dried food in the bowl.

I find it hilarious when one of them appears at the living room door, looks around, hops back the bedroom to get the other one to follow and then they both appear. And to think there was a point I really regretted getting Bettie as i never thought Mr Bum would be happy with her around. lol

Do you find some people find it hard to accept that rabbits DO have their own funny little personalities, and look on as if you are insane??!!!!!

i read this thread yesterday and i had no funny Meadow thing to add to the discussion.

but then, i made a discovery.

i *always* give Meadow her papaya tablet in the morning when she’s in her enclosure and at night when she’s in her enclosure.  well, last night she was out later than usual, so i brought down the container, gave it a shake to let her know it was papaya time.  even tho she was out, she ran back inside her space and up to the grates to get her treat.  i never realized before then that she equates her enclosure with her papaya tablet.  i tried to coax her out of the area with a tablet, but she would not budge from the grate until she got that tablet.

Cadbury is the only bunny I’ve seen that will use her paw to bring her ears to her mouth, then lick the tips of her ears to clean them. (Yes, she has big ears.) She doesn’t wet her paw and use that to clean her ears, she will bring her ears to her mouth. She looks like a little girl brushing her hair.

                                  Too cute!

Oh my gosh, Mimzy brings his ears to his mouth too! I forgot about that, it’s one of the reasons I mistook him for a girl bun, it really does look like a little girl brushing her hair! ^^
My daughter loves this about him and wishes her bun had loppy ears so she would do that too.

Cadbury’s not alone! Although, she’s not a lop, she’s a mini-rex, but her ears are pretty long.

My babies climb the outside of the condo and sit on the roof, unfortunately they can’t get down so I have to rescue them.

I have a bunny with a tendency to lean when he sleeps (I think I just mentioned this on another post) – if Kramer is sleeping, or if he is focusing on something really hard, he’ll start leaning ever so slightly to the left. He was found on a golf course and I always think a golf ball bonked him on the right side of the head and caused this lean…when he sleeps next to bebe juli he’ll end up leaning on her shoulder because of the little lean.

Also, Raymond, I think was a monkey in a previous life! When I give treats he is usually last because his condo is all the way on the right side, so by then he is totally frantic for the treat. He’ll climb up onto his food crock to get his head higher up, so he’ll be balancing with one back foot on each side of the bowl on his tiptoes (he inevtably then falls into the crock) – once he was trying so hard to get a treat he somehow ended up HANGING from the wooden dowel in the condo (don’t know how that one happened

Mimzy leans and wobbles just before he goes to sleep. This is followed by either a full out plop or a sloooww slide tot he floor into the bun-loaf position. He reminds me of those little kids on Funniest Home Videos that are falling asleep in their food! ^^
MooBunnay, what a funny bunny you have! How was he hanging by the dowel? (by feet I hope, that tail is too small to curl around it!) XD

Hahahha, not by the tail – though, now that I think about it he is also my bunny that goes crazy for bananas….

What I think happened was that he was in his litterbox when he heard the treats. The dowel is supporting the second floor of the condo, and is right above his head in the litterbox. I think he probably stood up on his back feet, and then supported his front feet on the dowel when he was sniffing out the treats – then I think when he knew 100% it really was treats he stood up on his back tiptoes (which he does when he’s real excited) which would have elevated him high enough to get his front feet OVER the dowel. Then he moved his back feet up to stand on the side of the litterbox, and then I think by the time I got to his cage, his feet had slipped off the side of the litterbox, and there he was, dangling by his arm pits off the dowel

My non-bunny owning friends think I’m totally crazy when I talk about our bunnies like they are my children! They are really different. Edward if more comfortable with us (cause he’s known us longer) and in his own space, he likes to watch TV and if he’s in the mood will toss a ball to you if you toss it to him. Josephine is such a little scardy cat but she is so curious.. when she’s investigating something new she wont move her back feet forward but streches out as far as she can and then creeps along on tiptoes! If they are in a new space Josephine is the first one out and Edward hides behind her! So brave! Jospehine likes to stash food under the table… she takes veggies and saves them for later and gets cross when I clean them up!

Spacehopper- we lived in High Wycombe before we moved to CA and Edward really loved those dandilion hay sticks! I wanted to bring some over here with me but the bf pointed out I might get arrested by customs coz they look like “funny cigarettes”!

                                                          Medusa has 2 unique habits:

                                                          1) When drinking water out of her water bowl, she makes a gurgly/squeaky noise.

                                                          2) When eating pellets, she’ll always bite the edge of the bowl before going in for her next bite (pellets, bowl, pellets, bowl, pellets, bowl….). It’s like she’s so eager she bites the bowl and never learns.

When it comes to radio, Mimzy likes talk shows. I think it makes him feel like someone is speaking directly to him. ^^
He also likes to watch “Miffy & Friends” on PBS on Fridays.
He also bites his pellet bowl, but he does it to turn it so the pellets come down to the side of the bowl that he eats from. Pretty clever if I do say so myself! ^^

Here are some pics of things my buns do.

                                                              1. they like to lie down end to end. its like a yin yang!

                                                              2. Luna sits so primly with her paws just so. such a prissy girl!

                                                              3. Nova always pokes his head under Luna when she is cleaning herself. waayyy under. lol!

                                                              4. Luna always sits with her butt to the door for some reason. like right up against it so her tail sticks out.

Can you tell I like taking pictures of my bunnies? Luna especially seems to actually like it.  I’ll hold the camera right in front of her (like 5 inches from her) and she’ll sit and pose for me! She never moves away or seems to really mind. Its as if she wants the attention! I call her Princess Luna.

                                                              such funny bunnies we have!

Well I am still working with the newest additions. Nala & Snowball are still very stand offish. So I haven’t had much of a chance to see them do the unique bunny things they do as individuals.  I know Snowball loves to stay in her tube…and when her interaction with me often consists of playing peek-a-boo for about 5 minutes before she will come out and let me pick her up!

Nala is a neat freak and is always in her box, if you move it, she moves it back and must have the tshirt she adopted in with her.

Titan , well he is so new, but he appears to be a habitual thumper and a sloth!

Trix is also called the Kangaroo bunny. He is always parascoping, esp to see what food you might have! And he always climbs on the cage in my room when he comes to play, knowing there is fresh hay and pellets there for sleepovers! He also loves to jump in the bed when you are snacking to shove his face in your plate and has been knwn to jump on the nightstand if you’re dumb enough to leave your food there, and steal it! He stole my son’s bowl of banana split icecream! What a piggy!

Thumper …we he is our “puppy” dog! He is the worst begger. Both for food and to be picked up to go upstairs! He comes up, runs around us in circles, and follows up out of the room in a frantic sometimes almost deadly (between the legs and under feet) kind of race to the other room! The he grabs the paper , and throws it up in the air to indicate he wants to play his favorite game!

EL TORRO bunny, which I shared in another thread! He charges the paper in front of him over and over again, until he flops down in exhaustion! Final funny, he tortures my cat! Who loves to get in his cage ….(I think she thinks if she goes in there she will look or smell enough like the bunny that we might actually feed and play wiht her as much as them, she even was in there eating romaine stalks? ) Note to self, must spend time with cat, or get her bunny ears to pass her off! ~snort~

So here are a few more pictures!

I am looking forward to getting to know the newest bunnies and their little quirks!

Isn’t it a kick when the prey animal scares the pants off the predator? We have a feral cat we’re caring for, we call her Hello Kitty. She would often come to the Bun-Galow to watch Mimzy wander around outside. He caught sight of her and charged at full speed, smacking the fencing with a sharp “PING!” as he reached where she was sticking her nose. That poor cat took off like a shot and has respected bunny in the highest possible terms since then. She actually helps ‘guard’ him when he’s out there.
Great piccies Fiver! ^^ Pip is a parascoping bunny too…we cal them ‘bunny-ups’ when they go on their back legs like that. I have Mimzy trained to sit up when I bring his treat.

Yes Beka, that is a CAT in the bunny cage! That is Misery ! She always peeks our room when we bring the bunnies up for play time each day. And once I knew she was more intimidated by them, then t/hey were of her, I let her come in to investigate.  We do know that 4 of the buns were raised around cats and dogs, so they don’t flinch a bit when she comes in, or when our 65lb American bulldog Powder comes in for a visit!

Both her and Powder are more wary of them. I think Powder thinks they are cats, and is respectful because she has had the old nose swipe done and never repeated being too nosey with cats again. Misery, well she is still young, and heck with the exception of Snowball , all the bunnies are bigger than she is! I figure if she gets too rough or close she will get a bunny bite she won’t soon forget!

I don’t leave them alone ever, but she must have felt neglected, since I do go get them and bring them up as soon as I get home everyday, so I guess she figured if she went in the cage , rolled around , and ate bunny food, I would fawn all over her too!

Playing with Thumper is simply a perk for her. He is the only one who will play back, the others ignore her, thump at her or hide.

Silly cat! Here is the continuation of the bunny/cat games, so this is Thumper’s thing,

Mostly a home body…and I spend hours taking pictures of ALL the animals in the house, and believe me there are soooo many that can take hours

In fact it was quiet here tonight and I have already taken about 100 pictures! And this time it was not just of the bunnies! I was kidless and husbandless for most of the evening so I had one set of bunnies up for play time and took pics, and then switched out the other two and they are up here right now running around like little nuts!

I am happy to have found you all, not only have I been able to learn more and more about those little long eared brats…but sharing pics and getting to know other bunny fans is great! I think people at work think I am a nut case talking about bunnies most of the time! They don’t understand, these little guys have really , seriously given me my joy back! I have learned to laugh again!

So no worries, I have plenty more pics where those came from! I need to send some to Binky to add to the main pic board! So many great bunny shots awaiting me, so little time!

It is a unique bond isn’t it. Almost mystical for lack of a better word… I have been around all kinds of animals my entire life. My mom is a cat lover, we call her the cat lady. She takes in strays, gets them thier shots, fixed, and lojacked! People know her well, she often ends up with ‘new’ cats all time!  We have had dogs, birds, horses, a pet sheep, hamsters…then my husband loves the reptiles ….so we literally have a zoo. We have about everything on the food chain I think?

I am lucky he loves the bunnies too! His eyes don’t glaze over yet!  He adores Thumper, who is our rough and tumble one! I think he started loving them because he saw how happy they made me, I have struggled with BipolarII and serious depression for years! So that has made life better for all of the family….but he fell in love with them for them just being them the longer they were around! Rabbit therapy! Hey they use dogs/cats and horses, why not bunnies!  I am constantly astounded by how happy they make me, I look forward to coming home to see them  everyday, and the bond grows deeper and deeper!
