  Huh, I’ve never seen a butt dewlap. Anyone else? She also seems a little overweight to me as I cannot see her legs and paws very well. But a vet will be able to tell you.

  I realy think that she was a little heavy and they put her on a diet and the skin is whats left….that dewlap on her but is all extra skin and fur….not fat,even though she is 9 lbs….she laying in my lap right now about to fall asleep

  Oh wow – what interesting looking bunnies they are! You might want to consider bringing them to a vet for a basic check-up, and to verify that you do indeed have two females on your hands. Sometimes people are mis-informed about of the sex of their bunnies and then *voila* surprise litter! I have never seen dewlaps like that before – is that normal? I find it a bit odd – I tried looking up Satin Breed bunnies but didn’t see any that had dewlaps (or bum dewlaps!) to the extent of the bunny that you have. It might be another reason to get a quick check-up for the buns.

  LOLZ, I’ll never think of Mimzy as fat again! What beautiful bunnies though! And they were at a fair? To just be given away?
  Oh, and that reminds me of something that absolutely chilled me in town today when I took my bun in to the vet; we’d stopped at our large chain pet store and the little tanks where they used to have the bunnies, that had been empty for months, now have signs on them saying:”New friends coming soon!”
  Good Lord, I thought they’d gotten out of the bunny selling business! 0.o You don’t suppose this is gearing up for Easter, do you?

  I used to have satins. I never had bunnies with butt dewlaps. I never ever heard such a thing. I love your bunnies though.

  Poor little baby. I would definately have a vet check it out though and I hope that “skirt” around her bottom isn’t going to cause poop to stick to it. You might want to keep an eye on it for urine scald and poo sticking to it. You’re a gem for taking them in!

  We had a rabbit like that at the local shelter – she had had a severe weight problem and once she was down to a healthy weight she had all teh skin leftover. They were even discussing whether or not she’s have to get it “tucked” when she got adopted, so I don;t know what the end result was.

  Is that skirt just fur? It could be medical too so I would have the vet do a thorough check-up on both anyway since they came from such bad conditions.
  
  I think the dewlap is more a result of an unspayed female and hormonal than actual weight.

  i am taking them both in next week. The skirt is just xtra skin but mostly fur. Her fur is quite long. I am always checking her. She tells me when she has had enough….lol
