        Hi all,

Cadbury has been shedding since November.  While she hasn’t developed any bald patches, her fur looks “wavy” (she’s a rex), meaning some parts look fluffier than others.  In the last week or so, her ears have started shedding, too. (I attached pictures below.)  Is this normal?  I’ve noticed some flaking on the outside edges of her ears – there is no waxy buildup in her ears, they look clear, and she hasn’t been scratching.  I’ve heard sometimes buns can get chapped ears, but then I also noticed some mild flaking down her back.  Do buns get dry skin when they shed?  Everything else seems normal, and she hasn’t been scratching or anything.  I also haven’t noticed any red, flaky patches anywhere on her.

Here are a few pics of her shedding ears, and in one, you can see some white flecks on her skin. (Ignore my purple pj’s please.)

Aw, thanks! It’s pretty dry inside the house, since we have the heat running. There is a heating vent above her pen, but it doesn’t really blow down to where she is. I was thinking about getting a humidifier – we already have a whole-house humidifier, but I may get a small one, too.

(Oh, and when I said you could see some white flecks in the photo, that was before I had to shrink the photo so I could post it. You can’t really see the flakes in these photos, but just imagine small flakes of dandruff.)

Hmmmm….I don’t know!! It *could* be that it’s just dry….Do you have plain old aloe vera? In a post about first aid, aloe vera is one of the things ‘to have in your first aid kit’ for bunnies, so it should be fine to use. You could try putting some on her ears and see if that clears it up!
