My bunny use to be in my dads office (downstairs) so i rarely saw her, just to feed her. the day i came onto this site, i saw the *home made cages* so i decided i wanted to try that, and he let me move her cage to my room. im really glad i did, cuz now she gets alot more attention, and shes not alone. Now im REALLY happy, because i have been secretly training my bunny behind my parents back to be potty trained, (this week, im gonna keep her over night in the bathroom, with all her stuff (litter box, toys ect…) and if she doesnt pee all night, then i will show my parents, and they might let her become a house rabbit. well atleast a room rabbit. soo excited! any tips that i may need? thankyou :3 ^.^
* Also, the has a 3 level cage, and has learned to go to the level with the litter box if she has to go bathroom*
I’m really glad to hear your parents agreed to move her cage into your room. I’m sure she’ll enjoy having more time and attention.
Keep in mind – that moving into a new space, often means a rabbit will have an increase in marking – so expect that for the first few weeks she very well may poop and pee outside of her litterbox – it may not be the ideal time to show off her box skills to your parents. It’s a normal kind of thing, since rabbits are very territorial. It should hopefully calm down over the next few weeks. In the meantime – make sure to add some hay and maybe even a treat to encourage her to use the box and keep up with sweeping any stray poops into her box.
good luck!
thankyou ^.^
That’s great news Panic, one baby step at a time! Keep up the great work!
XD
I’m glad to hear that your bunny is getting a chance at being indoors! How’s it going so far? Some more litterbox training? If you run into any problems that your parents have, let us know an we can give you some tips to address the issues. I’d say usually the biggest issue is chewing, you’d want to probably let your bunny have her “free time” in a play pen or enclosed area, and make sure to supervise her when she’s running around, that way you can redirect her attention to a toy or something else if she starts chewing.
its good that u have ur bunny in the house they are very sociable animals and its a shame when they are left all alone
good on u for realising a bunnies true potential!
^.^ thankyou ^.^

My knowledge of popular culture ended sometime around 1998. I haven’t purchased a movie or a CD in years, I listen to NPR almost exclusively. Loser, I know…
hahahahaha ^.^ nah ur not :3
he is a veggie and got famous through fall out boy (another band)
ahhh. MUCH cuter without the Vampire Lestat fangs.
Your bunny is completely relaxed when she stretches out with her 4 feet totally flat (like a bearskin rug) and straight out, and her face down. It means she’s feeling safe, secure, and probably a bit sleepy. If her head is near you, try petting her gently. She might want you to groom her a bit.
Lol i kinda like the fangs, but eh. Yeah he doesnt eat meat, is 20, turns 21 a month after me exactly *april 12* lives in Laus vegas, and yeah are great friends with pete wentz. ^.^ and is a hottie. oh and made a video with the dredson dolls. *look it up on youtube if u feel like it*
i always try to pet my bun bun when she does that XD cuz shes sooo cute!
my sis got a sweater for her bunny, and it fits PERFECTLY she uses it for outside, cuz its cold out, like snowing. i was thinking of getting a collar for my bun, so incase my bun finds a way outa my yard, she can return to my house. i dont no if its a bad ider.
You should not put a collar on your rabbit. Rabbits are not made to handle stress on their necks and backs and if it snags on something she could choke or hurt herself is she panics.
If she is an indoor bunny- you should be careful about letting her outside when it is cold or snowing- she has not grown a coat thick enough to stay warm and even a sweater is no substitute.
Rabbits can be trained to walk in a special harness for bunnies- but even thouse can be dangerous if the bunny slips free or panics.
yeah, i thought about the collar, if she chokes randomly, but i got her an indoor sweater, like when shes running around, cuz it holds on the diaper and keeps them warm *my sis got one* it gets really cold in my room.
Did I read this wrong, or does your bun wear a diaper?
lol yeah she does. ^.^
Rabbits do not need collar, sweaters or diapers. I understand that you are very excited about your bunny – but all of these things are not healthy and safe for a rabbit to be wearing as a regular kind of thing.
the diaper could lead to urine scald when the pee is sitting on her fur. Aren’t you working to litter train her?
she could choke or do serious injury to her back due to the collar as Staja said There have been terrible accidents involving broken limbs, and one even seizures because the rabbit could not breathe properly!
she could also seriously injure herself trying to get out of the sweater.
I have to agree with Gravehearted – Diaper’s, collars, and sweaters are not for bunnies. Especially the diapers, they are not at all designed for normal healthy bunnies, it is not an option for dealing with litter training. In addition to all the complications it can cause by keeping all her poop and pee right on her body – what if she decides to start chewing on it? Ingesting that stuff is terrible for her. Sweaters, and diapers and collars are much more appropriate for stuffed animal bunnies – but not so much for real bunnies.
diapers are for her to wear during the training, (like inbetween so she has running around time) i know its not helping, its only making worse. now that its not cold out, we wont need to let them run in the house, they will run outside. also, i decided not to make her wear a collar. its sad. and the sweater, it didnt fit properly anyways, so were all good.
I double ditto! No diapers, sweaters or collars. (that just feels weird to say – don’t think I’ve ever had to advise against diapers and sweaters) I know you said that your bunny’s sweater didn’t fit right, but your sister’s bunny’s sweater fits her bunny perfectly. So hopefully her bunny isn’t wearing one all the time. I would really discourage this unless it’s just for some short photo op. But as an ongoing thing to have on your bunny it’s not so good. Most animlas need to be able to get away from a heat source, and if the heat source is attached to them (via a sweater), this can cause overheating. A warm blanket or even those snuggle safe discs can provide warmth.
So how cold does it get in your room when it gets cold? Also, now you said that you are going to let them run outside. Is this all the time, and are you still going to be litter training inside. Seems all so confusing.
It really sounds like you should take some time to read up on the proper care and training. Check out the stuff on this site, the links sections and rabbit.org. That can be great resources for you and your family.
Helloworld!!
If your rabbit is pooping and peeing so much that you think she needs to wear a diaper every time you let her out of her cage, I would suggest maybe having a vet take a look at her.
Other than that – aside from the health risks of a rabbit wearing a diaper, I would think it would make it harder to litter train, since they can’t ever get away from their waste.
And again, no collars or sweaters. If it’s so cold in your room that you think the buns need sweaters, I would ask your parents to turn up the heat. It’s probably too cold for you and your sister, as well.
lol yeah. she has no collar or sweater now, same for my sis. i let her run around outside alot for freetime, and i train her in my room. she did okay today. only one pee spot and poo beside the litter box. better than befor. ^.^
